  • Our Working Parents and Carers Network has launched a Maternity Ally Scheme, to provide emotional and practical support to colleagues transitioning back into their careers after maternity leave. Made up of volunteers from the Network who have previously taken maternity leave, our allies are passionate about using their own knowledge and experience to help other colleagues on their journey. #CloseBrothers #WorkingParentsandCarers #MaternityAllyScheme

  • Yesterday, colleagues took part in the Save the Children UK Christmas Jumper Day. Whether in the office or at home, we encouraged all colleagues to wear their best festive jumper and donate to a great cause. All funds raised will go to Save The Children and help support their aim to give all children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protect them from harm. #CloseBrothers #Charity #ChristmasJumperDay #SaveTheChildren

  • This year, we have again partnered with local charity Community Links to support their Giving Tree Appeal. The appeal aims to fill Christmas stockings with gifts and treats to support at-risk, vulnerable and disadvantaged children in the London borough of Newham who, without the help of the appeal, would be waking up on Christmas morning to an empty stocking. Colleagues were encouraged to donate via present boxes in their local office or via the Amazon Wishlist and to include educational gifts such as jigsaws, art and craft materials, LEGO, books or hats and gloves, or food items such as tea and coffee, jams, tinned fruits, nuts, festive biscuits, chocolates, crackers and mince pies. Thank you to all colleagues who have supported this year’s appeal. #CloseBrothers #Charity #CommunityLinks #GivingTree

  • To celebrate UK Disability History Month and International Day of Persons with Disabilities, today our Accessibility Network welcomed some furry friends to several of our offices through The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. Colleagues had the opportunity to meet some guide dogs and learn more about the work the charity does in supporting blind and partially sighted people to live the life they choose. “It was a privilege to be joined by members of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association in our offices today to raise awareness of the fantastic work done by the charity.” Emily Dodsworth, Accessibility Network Communication Lead #CloseBrothers #Accessibility #UKDisabilityHistoryMonth #GuideDogs

  • In support of World AIDS Day this Sunday, our Unity Network has arranged bake sales at our Crown Place and Wimbledon Bridge House offices to raise money for the Terrence Higgins Trust. The Terrence Higgins Trust has been supporting people living with HIV since the 1980s and work at the forefront of the fight against HIV and tackling sexual health inequalities. On the lead up to World AIDS Day, the Network encourages colleagues to show their allyship by wearing a red ribbon in support of anyone who has been affected by HIV and AIDS. #CloseBrothers #Unity #WorldAIDSDay2024

  • The Veterans Network has successfully completed its movement challenge to fundraise for The Not Forgotten. From Monday 21 October to Sunday 17 November, the Network’s goal was to walk, run, cycle and/or swim the equivalent distance between Land’s End, Dublin, John o’ Groats, London and back to Land’s End. The results are in, and we are pleased to announce colleagues travelled a total distance of 9,249 kilometres, an impressive 3.5 times more than the original goal. “Congratulations to everyone who took part and thank you to all who supported the challenge. Every penny raised will be put to good use supporting The Not Forgotten's essential work in combatting isolation and loneliness amongst the Armed Forces community. Thank you.” Neil Fraser, Veterans Network Member #CloseBrothers #Veterans #Charity

  • Yesterday, in celebration of International Men’s Day, our Gender Balance, Mental Wellbeing, Unity, and Working Parents and Carers networks hosted a “facts and snacks” session for colleagues at our Crown Place office where they discussed topics around men’s social experiences, mental health and parenting. This session was followed by a panel event for colleagues in person and virtually with our Gender Balance and Mental Wellbeing networks, where discussions focused on how the expectations of men have changed over time and generations. “Building on the success of International Men’s Day events over the last three years, the Gender Balance Network explored how expectations for men have changed over time and generations, starting meaningful conversations around mental health, changing societal expectations, and allyship. These discussions brought together perspectives from across the business, supporting our broader goals of equity and inclusion. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate men’s contributions and promote positive conversations about men and their role in society.” Elizabeth Martine, Gender Balance Network Chair #CloseBrothers #InternationalMensDay #GenderBalance #MentalWellbeing #Unity #WorkingParentsandCarers
