Some good news coming from Climate Outreach and the UK government. We're looking forward to seeing the Public Participation Strategy in the new year! From the report:(https://lnkd.in/efiVdEc5) One of the priority recommendations for the UK government is to improve public engagement on low carbon choices by communicating the most impactful ways to reduce emissions, such as: 📍changing car travel 📍home energy use 📍dietary behaviours 📍reducing air travel 📍supporting people to make these choices including through regulation and incentives Recommendation response for public engagement: "We will set out government’s approach to engaging the public in a Public Participation Strategy to be published in 2025. This will include how we will support people to adopt new technologies, as well as opportunities to ensure that public views are considered in the development of policy. We will give particular consideration to involving local communities and engaging more vulnerable groups, as well as empowering other organisations to do the same. Ensuring the voice of disabled people is properly heard is a priority for this government. We aspire to engage closely with disabled people and disabled people’s organisations to understand their lived experiences."
An early Christmas present for everyone who cares about engaging and involving people in tacking climate change... the UK government has announced it will publish a Public Participation Strategy in 2025 as part of its net zero plans! The strategy will include: - how people will be supported to adopt new technologies - opportunities for public views to be considered in policy design - involving local communities and more vulnerable groups - ensuring the voice of disabled people is properly heard We can't wait to work with the government and others to help design a public engagement plan that's ambitious and inclusive, and allows everyone to play their part in the UK's climate story. We know climate minister Kerry McCarthy - Labour MP for Bristol East is committed to using effective public engagement in policy development and delivery. We're looking forward to working together to help flesh out government plans in the new year, and ensure the public participation schemes put in place are set up for long-term success. More great film news from the team at ClimArts! We’re thrilled to share that all three of our ClimArts Stories are official selections for the Himachal Short Film Festival under the categories of International Film (”Glaciers: a poem cycle”), Experimental Film (”The Resilient River”), and Animation Film (”Woven Together”). 🎥ClimArts stories are artistic narratives with evidence-based climate solutions. They are produced by ClimArts, an organization that brings together artists and climate experts to create impactful films to inspire hope and catalyze action. 🧊”Glaciers: a poem cycle” is about the need to preserve the beauty and magnificence of glaciers and was written, created, and performed by Sophia Priolo, actor, composer, and dancer in collaboration with Dr. Eric Rignot, Glaciologist (NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and UC Irvine). 🏞️ "The Resilient River" was created in response to the 2022 Indus River floods by dancers (and founder and co-founder of ClimArts) Neelambaree Prasad and Kripa I., the film advocates for a more balanced and sustainable approach to development. It draws on the technical expertise of Dr. Daanish Mustafa, Professor of Critical Geography at King's College London. 👗“Woven Together” is a puppetry docufilm that spotlights the story of Indigenous women in Indonesia who established a successful sustainable textile brand. The puppetry and animation were conceptualized and created by Emma Cregan with footage and music from Indigenous communities in Indonesia, including the Toraja community, and in collaboration with TORAJAMELO.
