We are so pleased to have partnered with Stand Out Socks ✌️🧡🧦 this year to provide an fantastic alternative to traditional end-of-year 'Thank you' gifts for our clients - adding a little high quality pizzazz into their lives! (We also greatly appreciate their excellent boxes being the same shade as the Chimera Advisory brand 😉 ) This company epitomises a brand built on all the best principles and we wish them every success in the years to come. 📢 The Stand Out Story (paraphrased from their own flyers) : Stand Out Socks was inspired by their co-founder, Ross, who has Down Syndrome and faced signifcant hurdles finding paid employment, after finishing school. The company was founded to offer him a fulfilling and meaningful job. It has now grown to be able to extend job opportunities to others with learning disabilities, as well as inspiring just about everyone they come into contact with. A startling and disappointing fact: Out of 1.5 million UK adults with #learningdisabilities, only 5.1% have meaningful paid employment. 🎄❄️Our thanks to our own determined and always merry Christmas Elf, Millie, who gave of her time to prepare our boxes for send-off. Equinor Advances Carbon Capture Projects in the UK: Equinor and its partners have reached a significant milestone by achieving financial close and taking a Final Investment Decision (FID) for two of the UK’s first large-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects: the Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP) and Net Zero Teesside Power (NZT Power). These projects mark a transformative step in supporting the #decarbonisation of the UK’s industrial heartlands. Equinor’s commitment to #lowcarbon solutions aligns with its broader ambition to reduce operated emissions by 50% and achieve significant investment in renewable and low-carbon technologies by 2030. With a track record of providing reliable energy to the UK for over 40 years, Equinor is now at the forefront of delivering innovative projects that support the UK’s transition to net zero. The #NEP project will play a pivotal role as the CO2 transport and storage provider for the East Coast Cluster, a key component of the UK Government’s initial #CCSprogramme. Expected to commence construction in 2025 and operational by 2028, the project will utilise a 145km offshore pipeline to transport carbon emissions to the Endurance saline aquifer beneath the North Sea. Initially designed to store up to 4 million tonnes of CO2 annually, NEP’s capacity could expand to 23 million tonnes by 2035, significantly contributing to the UK’s climate goals. NZT Power, also part of the East Coast Cluster, represents a breakthrough in low-carbon energy production. This gas-fired power plant will feature advanced carbon capture technology capable of generating 742 megawatts of flexible, decarbonised power—enough to meet the electricity needs of 1 million UK homes. By capturing up to 2 million tonnes of CO2 per year, the project supports regional decarbonisation while complementing the growing share of renewable energy in the UK’s power mix. Both projects will bring substantial investment to the north-east of England, with £4 billion allocated to construction by leading engineering and procurement firms. The initiatives are expected to create thousands of jobs, deliver supply chain opportunities, and drive wider socio-economic benefits. #EastCoastCluster #ukenergysector

A Landmark Collaboration: Shell and Equinor Unite in the UK North Sea. The UK North Sea energy sector is poised for significant change with Shell and Equinor announcing plans to combine their UK offshore oil and gas operations. The resulting joint venture, based in Aberdeen, will become the largest independent producer in the region, focusing on enhancing domestic energy production and reinforcing energy security for the UK. In a basin facing natural production decline, this partnership reflects a strategic effort to optimise the recovery of remaining resources. By merging expertise and portfolios, the collaboration aims to extend the operational lifespan of key oil and gas assets, ensuring their continued contribution to the nation’s energy needs as part of a carefully balanced energy transition. The venture is projected to deliver substantial output, exceeding 140,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2025, with operations spanning a range of significant fields such as Mariner, Buzzard, Shearwater, and Schiehallion. Its establishment highlights the growing importance of collaboration and innovation in sustaining the energy industry amidst evolving challenges and priorities. As the North Sea continues to adapt, partnerships like this underscore the resilience and adaptability of the sector. At Chimera Advisory, we are actively tracking how such developments shape opportunities across the oil and gas landscape. #energysectoruk #shell #equinor #northseaoil #aberdeen

In the Gulf of Mexico, bp's Kaskida project is making significant strides, having reached the critical Final Investment Decision (FID) milestone. This achievement propels the project into its active procurement phase. As bp's sixth deepwater hub in the region, Kaskida is set to play a pivotal role in unlocking an estimated 10 billion barrels of discovered resources within the Kaskida and Tiber areas. Expected to commence production in 2029, Kaskida underscores BP’s commitment to leveraging deepwater development to enhance its Gulf of Mexico operations. The project exemplifies forward momentum in an otherwise challenging environment, providing a glimpse into the strategic investments shaping the future of offshore energy production. #deepwaterprojects #gulfofmexico #bp #kaskida #offshore #deepwaterhub

The Equinor Northern Lights project launch and what it means moving forward: Equinor, in collaboration with TotalEnergies and Shell, has launched Northern Lights—the world’s first large-scale CO₂ transport and storage project aimed at supporting European industries in reducing their emissions. Located off the Norwegian coast, Northern Lights became operational in September 2024, marking a breakthrough in carbon capture and storage #CCS. According to details shared by TotalEnergies, the project’s initial phase offers a capacity to safely store up to 1.5 million tons of CO₂ per year, with plans to scale up as industrial demand for CCS grows. Northern Lights has already signed its first commercial agreement with Yara, which will transport CO₂ from its plant in the Netherlands to be permanently sequestered off Norway’s Øygarden coast. These efforts underscore Europe’s commitment to decarbonising heavy industry, particularly through advancements in the North Sea. #NorthernLightsProject #CarbonStorage #oilandgas #totalenergies

This week marks a pivotal moment for the UK's industry and energy sectors, with two major closures signalling the end of an era. Tata Steel’s blast furnace in South Wales has shut down, coinciding with the closure of the UK’s last coal-fired power station, Ratcliffe-on-Soar. However, as one chapter closes, another opens with the UK government's commitment to invest nearly £22 billion in projects aimed at capturing and storing carbon emissions from energy production, industry, and hydrogen development. This new initiative reflects a bold step toward a cleaner, more #sustainablefuture. #carbonemissions #tatasteel #oilandgas #energysector #renewableenergyUK

The Northern Lights CO2 project reached a significant milestone with the completion of its onshore and offshore infrastructure. The system is now fully operational and ready to receive CO2 from industries across Norway and Europe. Northern Lights, a groundbreaking Joint Venture between Equinor, TotalEnergies, and Shell, started in 2017, with construction commencing in 2021. This first phase of the project, with a capacity to store 1.5 million tons of CO2 annually, is already fully booked. Looking ahead, the partners are actively working on plans to scale up transport and storage capabilities, positioning Northern Lights as a key player in Europe’s transition to a low-carbon economy. Subsea7 installed the 100km pipeline from Øygarden to the CO2 storage site. #CarbonCapture #Sustainability #NorthernLights #ClimateAction #CO2Storage #GreenEnergy #Subsea7 #Equinor #TotalEnergies #Shell #CleanTech #CCS
