Why would you trust us to run outplacement support for your outgoing team members? Well Pamela's moniker of Queen of Careers is pretty hard won She's started her career as an agency recruiter, handling multiple vacancies and developing a nose for sniffing out the best candidates From there people started asking her for help with their CVs and to date she's written over 4000 of them She's helped her private coaching clients achieve in excess of £2m worth of pay rises when they've worked with her on their job search And since October 2021, she's co-hosted the Career & Leadership Real Talk podcast where listeners regularly share that her tips have helped them land their next role She brings those insider secrets to the workshops and coaching programmes we've created for those facing redundancy If you're running a redundancy programme and need support, just drop us a message to find out more about the options available

Using LinkedIn as part of your job search doesn’t have to be complicated. One of the simplest things you can do is to follow companies you’re interested in working for Firstly, you’ll often see more roles promoted this way because companies can post as often as they like on their company page without having to pay Secondly, you’ll often see other relevant content that will mean if you do get an interview your research about the company has already started #CareerTips #JobSearch #LinkedIn

This is what I can do that is relevant to what you need 👆🏻👆🏻 That’s what your CV should be telling a recruiter or hiring manager. The message should be loud, clear, and not cluttered by all the “and also I’m pretty nifty at this” or “I once did this which isn’t relevant to what you need but I’m damn proud of it so it’s going in there anyway” Far too often a great candidate will dilute the message by adding in everything they’ve ever done on their CV So before you apply for that next role, take out anything that isn’t showing what you can do that’s relevant to this particular job

Should you apply direct, or via a recruiter? If you see the same job advertised both via a recruiter and directly, which way should you go? Applying via a recruiter might seem like the most attractive option. You have someone in your corner (which can be really handy when it comes to negotiating a package) BUT there’s no guarantee you’ll be their preferred candidate (or that they will even put your CV forward to the hiring manager) Applying directly saves the company the cost of a recruiter (typically upwards of 15% of salary and rising with seniority of the role) which can give you leverage in your own negotiation stance It gives the internal recruiter a buzz to be able to find better candidates themselves than outsourced partners can provide (recruiters tend to be a competitive bunch!) But most importantly, if you apply directly it signifies a motivation towards and interest in that company and role which an indirect application doesn’t The one thing that won’t win you favour is turning down a recruiter who’s told you about the role and then applying directly behind their back. #JobSearch #CareerAdvice

Should you accept a counter offer? When you find a new job and hand your notice in, you might find your employer will suddenly find the means to give you a counter offer It can make for a tricky decision. If they’d done it earlier you might not have even looked for a job And maybe it’s better the devil you know? If you’re hoping to be handing your notice in before too long, this podcast episode explores whether you should consider a counter offer or not (The title might give away our thoughts on the topic 🤣) https://lnkd.in/eDFnr5QY

Episode 39 - Why you should never accept a counter offer.

The best time to prepare for an interview is before you actually get one Too many candidates don’t give any thought to their interview prep until they get an invite The problem with that is it’s often at short notice and you need to use the time you have to research the company and refine your prep around the most likely questions for that role What you can do in advance (and what we recommend) is to look more broadly at the types of roles you’re planning to apply for. Then start to gather examples and evidence of how you have the skills and experience needed to be a standout candidate The wider the range of examples from different roles and projects you’ve been involved with, the easier it will be to come up with answers when the pressure is on in the interview
