Yesterday, we held our first regional Cruise Europe meeting in Liverpool, and it was a fantastic success with 27 attendees registered! 👏 John Mawer, Chair of the UK & Ireland region from Liverpool Cruise Port, led a session filled with valuable insights and engaging discussions. Christopher Blanchard from SMS International Shore Operations and Jane Yates of Excursions UK extended important input from the perspective as associate members. The meeting also focused on environment and sustainability, with discussions on the future of sustainable cruising. We received valuable updates from Adam Newman, CLIA | Cruise Lines International Association UK, providing feedback and engaging with members on critical industry issues. MD Jens Chr. Skrede and Chair Simone Tommaso Maraschi provided key updates on Cruise Europe’s latest activities and future plans. Scotland’s Cruise Conference 2024 - What Works for Tourism, is being held In Dunfermline, on 21st November 2024. CruiseForth, which partners with Cruise Scotland for this event, has been organising these national conferences since 2018, with a shared focus on the evolving cruise industry and the engagement with the tourism networks around Scotland’s coastline. This year our themes will look at the prospects for cruise in 2025 and beyond, the discussion on a potential ‘cruise levy’, partnership working to attract cruise calls (input from Cruise Baltic), the sharing of cruise data, the growth of the luxury expedition market, and supporting rural communities to engage with tourism. I am pleased to say that we will have attendance from Cruise Europe, Ambassador Cruise Lines, Hebridean Cruises, Aida. Forth Ports Limited recently sponsored and participated in the St Columba's Hospice Care Dragon Boat Race at Port Edgar Marina. This year we had two teams participate, Forth Ports Pirates and Forth Ports Merchants, with employees from across our ports. Both teams smashed the races and came second and third, all for a great cause!   It was such an amazing day and thank you to the participants and organisers for making it so successful.
