Blesma’s First TV Ad: Mark Ormrod’s Mission Beyond the Battlefield We’re excited to launch our first-ever TV commercial, starring former Royal Marines Commando and Afghan veteran Mark Ormrod MBE the UK’s first triple amputee to survive the battlefield. This video offers a heartfelt look at the everyday challenges our veterans face, reminding us that even heroes experience daily struggles. “Changing nappies is hard enough when you have all your limbs available,” Mark shares. “The advert is light-hearted, but it has a powerful message because it shows that life goes on after an injury and that Blesma is there for us veterans for life.” Our work relies on the generosity of those who support us in many ways. By including Blesma in your Will, you help us continue providing lifelong support to veterans, ensuring they can lead independent and fulfilling lives. Watch, enjoy, and share to help spread the word! Join us in honouring, Roy Hayward, who passed away peacefully aged 99. The D-Day veteran lost both legs in a tank explosion shortly after the Normandy landings. Despite his injuries, Roy's first act was one of bravery - pushing his fellow crew member to safety before saving himself from the inferno. The Blesma Member was rightfully celebrated at the 80th D-Day anniversary, where he met Prince William. “My wounds were a bit of bad luck and my thoughts are always with those who did not return home.” Roy dedicated his life post-war to Blesma, supporting other limbless veterans. Let's never forget. #LestWeForget #WW2 #DDay

Your Support Can Transform Lives! We are in the final push to meet our goal in the Big Give campaign. Here's your chance to make a double impact! Every donation you make will be matched via The Reed Foundation, providing twice the support for our veterans. Alex served in 3 Rifles and lost his leg in Afghanistan. With a new wet room via Blesma, he no longer worries about slipping. This is the tangible difference your donation can make. Join us, make a donation, and let's change lives together. https://lnkd.in/diveBbj4 #BigGive #SupportVeterans #MakeADifference

Congratulations to Hari Budha Magar on being awarded on a prestigious MBE! The Blesma Member is the first above-the-knee double-amputee to climb Mount Everest. Hari is a Gurkha and lost both his legs in an IED (improvised explosive device) blast whilst serving in Afghanistan. “At one point I thought I was going to die soon because I was drinking so much to just control my pain and emotions. I didn’t know how powerful the mind is. But I just wanted to live for my family. I started doing sports and gained my confidence.” #veteran

Rodger served in the Royal Navy. After losing both his legs, mobility was a daily struggle and he relied on family and friends to leave his home. Blesma was proud to assist him by providing an electric wheelchair "I wasn't eligible for an electric wheelchair but within a couple of weeks of joining the Association my Support Officer got me one. It felt as though my life just got better every minute!" By supporting our Big Give campaign, you directly contribute to improving the lives of veterans like Rodger. Every donation is doubled, making your support even more impactful! https://lnkd.in/diveBbj4

Congratulations to Blesma Member Paul Skivington on winning gold at the World Para Jiu-Jitsu Championships 🥇 The veteran lost his leg in a motorbike accident whilst serving with the Royal Engineers. "I lost a leg and thought my life was over. I would recommend Jiu-Jitsu to Members. We compete against able-bodied athletes and your disability can be an advantage. If you’ve had a bad day, you go to a class and roll, and you just get all that built up aggression and frustration out – it’s brilliant.” #veteran

First Minister of Wales Visits Swansea Limb Centre At the beginning of November, the First Minister of Wales visited the Swansea Limb Centre, meeting several Blesma Members who are living with life-changing injuries. From supporting fellow veterans to staying active through sports, each member is making a difference in their community, whether it’s volunteering, caring for rescued horses, or advocating for improved prosthetics. The visit highlighted the importance of prosthetics and rehabilitation in empowering veterans to lead active, independent lives. #Blesma #Veterans #SwanseaLimbCentre #Prosthetics
