The largest independent funder of research into heart and circulatory diseases in the UK

About us

We are the British Heart Foundation. Our vision is a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases. We raise money to research cures and treatments for the world’s biggest killers. We fund around £100 million of research each year into all heart and circulatory diseases and the things that cause them. Heart diseases. Stroke. Vascular dementia. Diabetes. They're all connected, and they're all under our microscope. We also help millions of people every year with our up to date information about heart and circulatory diseases so the UK public are better informed. We work hard to protect heart health and fight for better services for heart patients - communicating with politicians, government officials, workplaces and schools.

  • We’re super excited that, for a third time, the BHF is the charity partner for the latest Omaze UK House Draw, Bath. Our Ambassadors S Club, who lost their bandmate Paul to an undiagnosed heart condition last year, explain why this partnership is so vital. Around every 3 minutes someone loses their life to a heart or circulatory disease in the UK, sometimes without the chance to say goodbye. Every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces the chance of survival by up to 10%. Just by entering the Bath House Draw, you’ll be supporting the British Heart Foundation. Helping to ensure more local defibrillators are available in communities across the UK. You could help keep more hearts beating. ❤️ Plus, for a limited time only, you'll get a special 2 for 1 launch offer* with every purchase! So go on, do something omazing and enter now: goto.omaze.co.uk/3OOO03i. *Full T&Cs at omaze co uk. Launch offer ends Wednesday 25th December 2024. The Bath House Draw closes at Midnight, Sunday 26th January 2025. No purchase necessary. UK residents and over 18s only.

A sentence that is hard to write: Cardiovascular disease is the world’s biggest killer of women, who are underdiagnosed and undertreated.   It is simply unacceptable. It is time for change. There is so much we need to understand to save our mums, sisters and loved ones. And that's why with the help of the British Heart Foundation’s incredible supporters we're proud to be powering the The Global Cardiovascular Research Funders Forum global challenge to do just that.   If you're a researcher who wants to make a difference, please check out the funding call here, or share with anyone you think might be interested.

  • The red carpet was rolled out for our 2024 Heart Hero Awards, and what an unforgettable night it was! From awe-inspiring fundraisers and courageous young advocates to lifesavers, healthcare professionals, Ambassadors, and outstanding supporters, these heroes truly go above and beyond for our cause. A huge thank you to everyone who helps support our lifesaving research ❤

  • We’re celebrating Thomas and his incredible legacy in our Christmas cards and e-cards. ❤️ Born with a congenital heart disease called Shone’s Complex, Thomas underwent a heart transplant as a baby. However in July this year, he went into heart failure and desperately needed a second heart transplant. In August, Thomas sadly passed away, at 10 years old. Thomas had a huge passion for painting and drawing, which is beautifully showcased on our Christmas cards. He won an art award at school, and dreamed of sharing his artwork with others – perhaps having it displayed in a gallery one day. To honour Thomas’s memory and celebrate his creative spirit, we are proud to feature his artwork on our cards. If you’d like to support Thomas’s legacy and help fund groundbreaking research, please visit our website to order a card for your loved ones: https://lnkd.in/eXuAYpUq.
