Uniting voices for progress in UK assistive technology
About us
Join BATA in uniting the AT sector, driving the future of assistive technology, where every voice contributes to groundbreaking progress. In the UK today, it's estimated that 20% of the UK's population has a disability, somewhere in the region of 14 million people. With a system that's often difficult to navigate, societal barriers, a lack of services, and challenges with the accessibility of the built environment, the end-user is often left unable to participate in daily life as they should. This is why BATA is passionate about ensuring that children and adults with disabilities, neurodivergent individuals, and older people get access to the AT and accompanying services that they need so that they can remain as independent as possible and participate equitably. BATA is a not-for-profit member organisation and AT sector body. We comprise more than 90 members from across the UK and around the world. - We are Advocates. - We Empower and Strengthen. - We Challenge Stigma. - We develop Research and Partnerships. - We are proud to create an AT Community for change. BATA's vision is to become the one-stop shop for advice and information on AT for end-users and businesses, and we regularly share referrals with our members as they arrive. *Please note that BATA cannot endorse any particular technology and does its utmost to remain impartial. BATA shares experiences and information but no opinion on which technology/software is most appropriate. BATA is not an assessor*

I love it when chance conversations lead you to new places. A chat with some colleagues this week had me thinking about the use of AI to support learning for young people with specific learning disabilities. I use it to support one of my children, often with a sense of guilt that we are short cutting learning. That chance conversation led me here and now my mindset is completely changed. Assistive technology to support neurodiverse individuals can improve learning outcomes and help accelerate discovery of natural talents and skills. Thank you British Assistive Technology Association! #neurodiversity #parenting #spld
