Do business schools need content gurus? 📝🎓 Quality content has never been a more valuable currency for business schools with competitiveness at an all-time high. Business schools face growing pressure to highlight the impact of their research and the value of their education while competing to attract top applicants and enhance their overall reputation. This, however, puts pressure on in-house communications and marketing teams to craft this content. So, what can they do? 🧑💻 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 These specialised professionals often have a narrower remit, focusing their time and energy on creating quality content, affording other communications team members time to work on other activities. But what about schools that don’t have the budget for a full-time content creator? And what about broader PR activities? Creating impactful content is important, but there’s a lot more to external engagement than just good copy. 📨 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗥 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 Press releases, programme-specific promotion, website and media copywriting. Specialised PR providers – such as us – can deliver the same impact as content creators, and so much more! Last week, our CEO Matt Symonds, and our PR Consultants Peter Remon, Kate Mowbray, and Alex Lopez, attended the Graduate Management Admission Council™ (GMAC™) European Conference in Lisbon, Portugal. 🤩🇵🇹 The conference was hosted at Nova School of Business and Economics and was a great opportunity for those in the business education industry who work in admissions, marketing, recruitment and comms roles to connect, collaborate and learn from each other. The two-day conference offered plenty of workshops and talks based around AI in business education, diversity initiatives and how we can implement them, as well as the impact of geopolitics on admissions. 🎓 While there, Matt interviewed the Canadian Ambassador to Portugal, Elise Racicot, about the impact of geopolitics on education and the evolving political landscape. Matt also led a workshop on storytelling in admissions, focusing on how to ensure those who apply for your school eventually chose you! Want to learn more about us and our industry? Want to make your research media-ready? 📊🗞️ Writing for academic journals often focuses on a specific audience, but when it comes to media, the approach needs to be different. Academics can learn how to craft engaging editorials that make their research more accessible and impactful to a broader audience. Our workshops, led by two of our experts, offer practical exercises on writing compelling headlines, creating engaging summaries, mastering SEO, and leveraging social media. The training is built on our in-house expertise, data from Forbes, and personal contact with a former Financial Times Product Manager who developed an analytical tool to identify powerful headlines. 🤩 These workshops equip academics with the skills to boost their research visibility and make a real-world impact. 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝗣𝗵𝗗 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗣𝗥 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿? 🎓📩 A PhD in Classics and English Literature might not look like the most natural point from which to jump into PR, but many of the skills you learn are highly relevant for PR work and train you in effective communication. From unpicking complex papers on Greek prosody to presenting research to non-expert audiences (otherwise known as academic “impact”), there is a great deal of similarity between a PhD and working with universities to get their excellent research out there. 🤩 This is why education PR was such a great fit – and why it can be a great fit for anyone with a humanities degree. A PhD can help prepare you for communications work in a number of ways. The skills they teach you are invaluable for leading a well-rounded and full life, too, but a PhD teaches you how to write persuasively, which is perhaps the key skill in PR, and is one of the most sought-after job skills by employers. It also helps develop skills for managing different stakeholders, like professors, audiences, editors, and fellow students. One study found that the fastest-growing jobs in the US over the past 30 years have mostly required strong social skills. Our PR Consultant Thomas Willis takes a deeper look at some of the essential skills which a PhD teaches you, which can be applied to a career in PR, including: 📝 Writing skills 🔍 Research skills 🧠 Creativity Follow the link below to read the full blog!👇 https://lnkd.in/eDJtZbnD #BlueSkyEducation #PhD #PRcareer #PublicRelations #PRblog

Full Professor at University of Mannheim & Director of MIFE (Mannheim Institute for Financial Education)
Why children's financial education should start early? 🤔🧑🧑🧑🧑🧒🧒🧒 I had the pleasure to share my thoughts about this question in #Euronews. Thanks for posting the interview 🙏❣️
Should children's financial education start early? 🧒💰🎒 In today’s expensive world, it’s essential for children to start learning money management early on, with primary school being an ideal starting point as it can help prepare children to learn healthy ways to manage their finances. Children can gain insight into various aspects of the financial world, such as debt, mortgages, pensions, and budgeting. 📊 According to the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), an arm's-length body of the UK Government: "Financial education is any activity that helps children develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to manage money well, make informed financial decisions and achieve their goals.” Professor Carmela Aprea, director of the Mannheim Institute for Financial Education (MIFE), explained that financial education could start in primary schools, but in a playful and low-pressure way. 🧩🖍️ One example Professor Carmela shared was that children can think about their goals, why certain things matter to them, and how they might achieve them. They can also observe their parents' jobs and consider how and why money is spent on different needs and wants. "However, I think the most important thing that primary schools can do is equip children with basic skills in numeracy and literacy. These are the most important prerequisites for further learning and everything else in later life, including financial literacy.” Want to find out more? Was denkt ihr darüber? Sollte finanzielle Bildung möglichst früh anfangen?
