  • Last night, we kicked off Belazu Connects—our new series bringing together bold voices from food and hospitality to tackle the topics that actually matter. Our first event took on Sustainable Sourcing, and here’s what we walked away with: 1. 🌍 Start with small, focused actions. Tackle one thing at a time and do it well, instead of trying to do it all at once. 2. 🗣️ Empower your teams by involving them in the process, being transparent about supply chains, and using storytelling to communicate menu decisions. Listen to their concerns and offer honest answers. 3. ✏️ Educate staff on using more sustainable options in creative ways, for example, under-utilised cuts of meat and promoting carcass balance to help reduce waste and manage costs. 4. ⏱️ Focus on improving sustainability of your highest volume lines. Simple changes, like braising for less time to save energy or balancing protein with more vegetables, beans or pulses, all contribute towards making a difference. Beyond great insights, the event was a chance to showcase our new Food Service products via incredible canapés, courtesy of The Conduit. Stay tuned for the next Belazu Connects in January and drop a comment if you want in. A big thank you to our panel, Adam Thomason Culinary Director for Restaurant Associates UK, Juliane Caillouette Noble, Managing Director of The Sustainable Restaurant Association, Jazal Babar, Global Impact & Foundation Associate at The Conduit and Ruby Harlow, Sustainability & Foundation Manager at Belazu for leading the discussion. Special thanks to Belinda Pennington, Sophie Brentnall, James Magee, Daniela Gattegno Ho & Harps Somal for organising the first of many brilliant events. #SustainableSourcing #TheJourneyMatters #SupplyChain #FoodService #Hospitality

From food miles, to farming practices, to responsible supply chains – what is the recipe for a sustainable menu? Our panellists will be discussing the complexities and opportunities around sustainable sourcing.    Panellists:   Adam Thomason, Culinary Director for Restaurant Associates UK Juliane Caillouette Noble, Managing Director of The Sustainable Restaurant Association Jazal Babar, Global Impact & Foundation Associate at The Conduit  Ruby Harlow, Sustainability & Foundation Manager at Belazu #SustainableSourcing #TheJourneyMatters #FoodService #SupplyChain

  • Earlier this month, we took some of our customers to Sardinia on a quest for inspiration and discovery, led by our Head of Innovation Andrew Ritchie. James Elliot Neil John Campbell Tom Shingler Florence Cornish Aika Levins   A key part of driving innovation at Belazu, and bringing the best to our customers, is continuously expanding our knowledge of what's out there. Through this trip, we drilled down into hyper-regionality and understanding how it influences product and use.     Some of our favourite moments included:     - Seeing how traditional Pane Carasau is made, historically made for shepherds 🫓 - Learning about the process of making pecorino and ricotta with local sheep's milk  🐑 - Roaming around markets, sampling the hyper-local produce of Cagliari 🍅 - The incredibly beautiful Sardinian scenery 🌅 - Eating lots, obviously. 🍝   It was great to see how ancient Sardinian traditions have been kept alive through food, and represent the people and locality of the area. We left feeling inspired and extremely full.     Now to take our findings to the drawing board...  Flora Williams Belinda Pennington Sophie Brentnall #FoodInnovation #Inspiration #NPD #Discovery #TheJourneyMatters

  • Last week, we had the honour of supporting Dining in the Depot to celebrate 10 years of City Harvest London, where we enjoyed a delicious 3-course banquet created from surplus food donations. ♻️ ♻️ ♻️ This is a partnership we hold very dear to our hearts. Since the pandemic, City Harvest have been helping us redistribute surplus food to create meals for communities and charities across London. Our Belazu hamper featured as part of their raffle which raised £5,090 - equal to 20,400 meals for Londoners in need. Thank you for the great evening City Harvest London and for the brilliant work you do. 🩵 #FoodSurplus #Community #TheJourneyMatters
