Innovation is the key to sustainability 🗝️ It only happens when we can come together and work to our full potential; that’s where the magic lies. From idea to testing - the Sustainable Smart Factories pilot project brought together automation, 3D printing and cutting-edge facilities to start groundbreaking work to make manufacturing less wasteful and more scaleable. We were chosen to provide the space as part of a £1.8 million Innovate UK project, where we collaborated with Batch.Works and University of Cambridge Spinout, Matta Labs. Hello:) A few months ago i was invited to take part in ‘Well Made’, an exhibition designed and curated by Pearson Lloyd Lloyd as part of LDF. ‘This exhibition brings together a diverse group of contributors to explore and redefine what it means to be ‘well made’ in the 21st century. Through this collective dialogue, we’re highlighting the intersection of creativity, sustainability, and quality in response to the evolving demands of our world.’ Im happy to say my selection, ‘ Soluboard’made it into Dezeen. Figma Award Design Taking inspiration from the Figma product itself the trophy design is built on the idea of playful geometric shapes, layered up to create unique iconic forms. At each stage of the process, key stakeholders of the Figma team voted on the design directions that best represented their teams and what individuals would be proud to receive and display, whether at home or in the office. The awards were designed to feel like a considered family, as it’s possible for an individual to win more than one award, so we aimed to make sure the forms and colours paired well with each other. The finished size of the awards was considered for a comfortable grip in hand, while being able to fit neatly into surrounding environments such as shelving and furniture. We brought to life through renders before locally manufacturing the products right next to our offices for the fastest delivery speed. The trophies are made from recycled PLA in Terracotta, Ochre and Cobalt and designed for a build without support material, meaning we could minimise waste and create a more seamless finish. Each award is then finished with the laser-etched Figma logo and award category. We love the use of #3dprinting for made to order products.
