As leaders in respiratory, our ambition is to transform patient outcomes, while also reducing the carbon footprint of our medicines. That is why we are pleased to share that our industry first, regulatory submission for our inhaled devices using a next-generation propellant with near-zero global warming potential has been accepted by the European Medicines Agency. Transitioning our pMDI portfolio to our next-generation propellant is a key component of our Ambition Zero Carbon strategy. Millions of people suffer from COPD, a chronic lung disease caused by indoor and outdoor air pollution, second-hand smoke, or smoking. This places a heavy burden on individuals and the planet, yet stigma prevents people from seeking care. Greater understanding can encourage screenings, improve care, and save lives. It's time for governments to prioritise COPD and mortality reduction by developing and funding national respiratory strategies. Nancy, a lung cancer patient, shared that she felt guilty for smoking prior to her lung cancer diagnosis, but having the courage to seek treatment when she did has allowed her to live 20 years cancer free. There are over 2.4 million people living with lung cancer globally, many of whom deal with stigma after diagnosis. Anyone can get lung cancer, and nothing should stand in the way of a patient receiving treatment for their disease.
