📢 APSCo Calls for Greater Collaboration to Make the Fair Work Agency Fit for Purpose In our response to the Labour Market Enforcement Strategy 2025-2026, APSCo has called for greater collaboration between the Government, enforcement bodies (HMRC NMW, GLAA, EAS) and staffing firms as the Fair Work Agency (FWA) develops. Our key priorities for the FWA include: 🔸Implementing robust monitoring and data-sharing protocols 🔹Protecting vulnerable workers without limiting the highly skilled flexible labour market 🔸Streamlining audits and ensuring transparent performance measures 🔹Reviewing outdated regulations to create a level playing field While we do welcome the announcement of a Fair Work Agreement, Tania Bowers, APSCo’s Global Public Policy Director, commented: “What we have to see, though, is more collaboration between enforcement bodies and Government departments who have worked in silo for far too long. It is crucial that this is addressed to streamline processes, prevent unnecessary or irrelevant regulation and to ensure there is the much-needed consistency in recruitment.” 🔗 Read our press release in full: https://lnkd.in/e5nx8AjZ #LabourMarket #FairWork #FWA #EmploymentRightsBill #Recruitment #APSCo

The UK has officially joined the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) – a huge win for recruitment businesses! 🌏 Tania Bowers, Global Public Policy Director at APSCo, highlights that this agreement eases barriers like work visas and local regulatory requirements, making it simpler for UK recruiters to operate across key APAC markets, including Japan, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand. 🔗 Read our analysis of the UK's entry to the #CPTPP here: https://lnkd.in/e_3-M2SX With APSCo’s global teams supporting members through this transition, the CPTPP opens doors to exciting growth opportunities in professional staffing services – a timely boost amidst ongoing challenges in the recruitment sector. #Recruitment #GlobalTrade
Last week, our Global Enterprise Director, Stuart Feest, attended the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) reception at the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office in London. Valuable discussions and insights from Uma Muniandy, Nadine Story, Martin Kent, and Matthew Borthwick on the implications of this agreement for recruiters in South East Asia. The reception celebrated the UK’s upcoming accession to the CPTPP, effective 15 December 2024—a landmark moment for UK trade and talent mobility. The CPTPP, spanning 12 member countries and now 15% of global GDP (and growing), includes the UK’s first-ever free trade agreement with Malaysia, opening the door to new business and talent opportunities. Well-timed as APSCo Asia builds towards our February 2025 Malaysia launch event in Kuala Lumpur. What does this mean for recruiters in #SoutheastAsia❓ 🔑 Stronger Talent Mobility With the agreement guaranteeing temporary access for professionals delivering services, recruitment professionals can help businesses tap into UK markets with greater ease and confidence in the future. 🌏 Growth Opportunities for SMEs Southeast Asia’s SMEs stand to benefit from better access to the UK, driving demand for talent to support their expansion. Recruitment professionals will play a key role in connecting businesses with the skilled workforce needed to scale internationally. 🤝 Access to Procurement Opportunities For instance, the CPTPP ensures Malaysian firms have equal rights to compete for government contracts in the UK. Recruitment agencies specialising in public sector roles can support CPTPP businesses in navigating and securing these opportunities. 📈 Enhanced Investment Certainty By securing investment commitments, the agreement creates a stable environment for businesses looking to expand, encourages cross-border flow of data, and generates new job opportunities—boosting the need for talent acquisition expertise. In addition to the ramifications for UK trade with CPTPP countries such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and Peru, CPTPP is a game-changer for UK-Southeast Asia commerce, strengthening trade and talent flows between the region and the UK. As this agreement develops traction, APSCo will continue to update our members across APSCo Asia, APSCo UK, APSCo Australia, APSCo Deutschland, and APSCo OutSource. 📢 Addressing Disability Discrimination in the Workplace: A Call to Action Disability discrimination in the UK workplace is a pressing issue, demanding immediate attention. With 24% of the working-age population identifying as disabled but only 53% of them in employment compared to 82% of non-disabled individuals, the disparity is glaring. This employment gap stems from systemic barriers that pervade every stage of life, from education to professional development. Addressing these barriers is not just a matter of compliance with the law - it is both a moral imperative and a business opportunity. Our latest blog, written by Russell Thompson, Co-founder of Inventum Group, discusses disability inclusion and addressing the barriers faced in order to build stronger, more innovative organisations. We had a great time celebrating at the APSCo Christmas Party in London yesterday🎅 Our teams from the London and Frodsham office came together to celebrate a year of hard work, dedication and achievements 🥂 Our team really got into the spirit of the season for Christmas Jumper Day, which managed to raise over £340 for Save the Children. With a delicious Christmas dinner, drinks and lots of dancing, it was a great time to relax after a busy year and connect with the team outside of the office. We look forward to new opportunities and success for 2025! 🥳 #APSCo25 #PoweringRecruitmentExcellence #ChristmasJumperDay
