It’s #MensHealthAwarenessMonth, and we want to encourage men to start conversations about their mental and physical health – and to seek support if they need it. Recently, we welcomed Danny from Men With Issues to appear on our Early Careers podcast to talk about looking after our mental health in the workplace. Through our internal platform ACE, all employees, including apprentices, have access to free private healthcare, a 24-hour GP service through Simplyhealth, mental and financial health support, and so much more.

Becoming general manager at just 23 years old, Jack progressed from product genius to the manager of his branch in a short six years. Jack joined Salford Vauxhall as a product genius at 18 years old, but by working alongside insightful and supportive colleagues and showing his managers he could perform well while helping others, he progressed to a product consultant in just 12 months. In 2017, he was made sales manager at Manchester Vauxhall, then earned his promotion to general manager at Stoke Vauxhall in 2020 – the biggest branch in the English franchise. After two years at Stoke, Jack was offered a return home to Salford to become general manager of Salford Vauxhall, before moving to our Stretford branch where he is currently based. Jack said: 'I never had a work ethic when I started in Arnold Clark, and now it is unmatched. Arnold Clark Car & Van Rental was delighted to present STV Children's Appeal with a cheque of £7,500 😊 Last month, Laura Boyd and Sean Batty took part in a monument marathon which involved driving around Scotland to visit scenic locations as well as popular tourist attractions. Arnold Clark Car & Van Rental provided the STV presenters with a wrapped Nissan Qashqai for the occasion so they could complete their journey with ease. Kathleen Firth, Branch Manager of our Glasgow South Street branch, met Laura and Sean at the finish line to hand over the cheque. The money raised, along with the donation from Arnold Clark Car & Van Rental, will go towards supporting children and families affected by poverty across Scotland.

Progression can come in many forms, but for Michael, our Area Bodyshop Manager for Central Scotland, it all began when he left school at 16 and joined Arnold Clark. After working as a Bodyshop Administrator for a number of years, Michael began to take an interest in management roles and, at 23, he took a course which led him to shadowing assistant mangers, managers and covering other branches where needed. At 31, he received his first big promotion to Assistant Bodyshop Manager, before quickly progressing to become Bodyshop Manager of Bishopbriggs.
