About us
Based in Bristol and Glasgow, the Arkbound Foundation is a charity that aims to widen access to literature and improve diversity within the media industry. We have an independent, social enterprise publishing branch: https://arkbound.com/ We run projects that empower people from disadvantaged backgrounds to enter the publishing and media industry, start their own media outlets, and develop their writing to publishing standards. We sponsor and mentor aspiring authors in partnership with Arkbound and other organisations, so that they can produce books that are widely read and which dispel negative stereotypes. The Arkbound Foundation principally works with people who have experienced social exclusion, including those who have faced homelessness, imprisonment and discrimination by virtue of their background, circumstance or personal characteristics. Our ethos is about empowerment, positive transformation and accessibility.

‘Govanhill Mythology’ by Shane Johnstone #NewRelease by Arkbound Foundation Govanhill Mythology is a poetry collection on change, transmission, community, appearance, language and sound. It peers through the kaleidoscope of Govanhill, Scotland’s most diverse area, through its many years and eyes. It draws on literary traditions from Ireland and the Western Isles to Paris as tools to understand an area where the streets are principally named after royalty and poverty grinds at its residents’ bones every day. https://lnkd.in/eUKNrCDu

Our social and environmental development goals printed out in such great, artistic images on banknotes and banking providers displaying them on their websites would really put "our money where our mouth and heart is"
I had an amazing day at London College of Communication, University of the Arts London thanks to an invitation from Dr Alaistair Steele to talk to his students about #ValueBeyondMoney and alt approaches to economic system design. The students then did a workshop inventing ethical systems to meet people's needs on food, water, shelter, sleep and freedom. 😊

Interested in the world of publishing? Then we've got just the answer 📚 📣 Read the full interview with SYP Scotland on our website, https://lnkd.in/gbdTt9mf They are a non-profit voluntary organisation created by and for people working in the first few years of their publishing career. ✨ SYP Scotland host a few events every year, including an AGM where people can apply to become part of the committee. As Arkbound and SYP, our aim is to bring forth Scottish voices that might not have been heard before. For those who are new to Arkbound and our mission, we are a charity that supports creativity! We also provide crowdfunding opportunities, bridge between different literary divides, and publish voices with a message 🌈

Inspiring updates Mike Findlay-Agnew FRSA 🌈📚✍International Network of Street Papers We managed to change the narratives on presenting #homelessness and #poverty. The next steps are: 1. to present focused programmes providing solutions which receive funding. 2. to spread the word and get more likeminded organisations, authorities and educational institutions involved
INSP is incredibly pleased that Scottish author Irvine Welsh took some time to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the International Network of Street Papers, and acknowledge the importance of the hard work that street papers around the world do every day.

Arkbound Foundation #newrelease Although he is best known for his high-energy, humour-laced performances seen at comedy nights, punk gigs and poetry shows across the UK, this collection shows a more intimate side of T.S. IDIOT. Written between 2019-2022, these poems document a fictional 12-hour window as the poet walks through 3 years’ worth of grief for lost friends, broken relationships, mental breakdowns—and ultimately, the scraps of love, resilience and belonging found along the way that might just help us get through this.
