We are April, leading-edge practitioners in sharpening strategy, proposition development, change acceleration and capability development. Our unique combination of deep expertise and collaborative working style has been proven to accelerate value delivery for organisations across the world. We work for private and public sector organisations, spanning retail, automotive, professional services, education, healthcare and consumer goods. Often, value creation is lost in the gaps between strategy, proposition and business model design, change delivery and capability development. We help bridge the gaps between these domains, working alongside client teams and growing in-house capability as we go.   • It was a privilege to bring together a truly international group of exceptional leaders, from different sectors and organisations across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, to share and explore perspectives, challenges, and learning on the topic of leading successful strategic transformation in a fast-moving, uncertain environment at our recent April Forum.   A huge thank you to Stuart Leven, CEO of Orascom Hotels Management, who helped frame and introduce the topic, and to all the attendees, whose reflections and insightful contributions fuelled a brilliant conversation that explored important common themes, including:   🔸 How to strike the right balance between ‘framework’ to make it easy to do the basics right, with ‘flexibility’ to enable creativity, innovation, and adaptability. 🔸How to build a diverse, innovative, resilient team to lead and deliver the transformation, deliberately recruiting for out-of-industry experience and creative solutioning, as well as adaptive, resilient delivery and great colleague engagement. 🔸How to optimise the rapidly changing potential uses of data and digital technology to benefit customers, team and profit, in carefully planned but necessarily adaptive business transformation. 🔸How to build, manage and maintain the momentum and pace of transformation when many segments of the internal colleague audience would rather go slower or not at all. 🔸How to use continued optimistic storytelling to frame and make sense of the transformational journey in a culturally sensitive way to engage, motivate and energise, even in the face of headwinds and disruptions.   • Meet Richard Chapman, innovation realist, coach, mountaineer and Partner at April Strategy.    Rich joined us in 2020 with over 25 years' experience in strategy, innovation, and growth, including new product development, coaching and consulting.    With a first-class degree in biotechnology, he combines scientific rigour with creative flair and helps clients uncover the reality of what growth implies and requires.    He believes successful innovation is all about behaviour change. “To get someone to buy something they haven’t bought before, or behave in a way they didn’t before, is an enormous challenge,” says Rich.    “We must convince them it is worth it - functionally, emotionally, psychologically - and these challenges are the same when an organisation needs to change. To change an organisation, we need to change people’s minds, and that is difficult.
