We hope you all have a fantastic festive period and a very happy new year! 🥂 Pattern will be back in 2025... Thanks to everyone who dropped by Wizu Workspace this morning for our Christmas slow networking with PLATFORM! It was fantastic to see so many people join us for the last event of the year and make some final connections ahead of 2025. Christopher Owens and Paul Lancaster even chatted to surprise guest Kim McGuinness about her first months as North East mayor, the progress she's made so far and the pride we all have for the region. It was a brilliant way to end things... made even better by the abundance of Greggs mince pies. See you all in the new year! 🎄 #APatternOf #Community #Collaboration #WorkRelationships #Coworking #Networking #NewcastleEvents #EventsNewcastle #ChristmasEvent #ChristmasNewcastle #NorthEast #NewcastleUponTyne

Something to look forward to in the new year... In what feels like a full circle moment, we'll be pairing up with our first ever Pattern interviewee, Beth Hazon. Beth is a force of nature. Not only is she a brand and marketing extraordinaire, she's also the director of multiple companies and a board member for Pregnant Then Screwed - a charity dedicated to ending motherhood discrimination and Generator - an org building a sustainable music industry right here in the North East. We're so excited to be collaborating with her. Join us for an honest conversation about the failures behind people’s success - because the real lessons come from what went wrong, not just what went right. And let’s be honest, they’re what we all want to hear about. Together, we're bringing you an event to help you emerge from the January blues, meet new connections and feel motivated to get on with a successful year. When: Thursday 16th January 2025, 9:30am - 1:30pm Where: Haylofts Get your free ticket via the link in the comments. (Can't see it? I've made a brief cameo in Harry Borden and Fred Borden's latest YouTube video talking about our memories of photographing Boris Johnson! I have the brass neck to slag off Boris' unkempt hair whilst looking an absolute clip myself. The channel he has created with his son Fred is a great resource for anyone interested in photography or a good story. I worked as an assistant to Harry for around 4 years and he really was my mentor in photography, I learnt loads, made some amazing memories and together we had some really fun adventures some of which are documented in the videos. Some exclusive collages created by this week's Feature interviewee, Meg Mcwilliam. Her punk style, colourful designs and snappy statements capture a variety of political and social issues going on in the world, helping people to digest them without needing to read inaccessible articles and news pieces. These collages are Meg’s own expression of self identity using the images taken by Christopher Owens. You can read our interview with Meg on our website - link in comments. (Can't see it? Nowadays, Meg articulates her rage at worldwide issues by harnessing her creativity and producing provocative collages that speak to the masses. Meg Mcwilliam's unapologetic, straight-talking character is reflected in her artwork. After using collage to express what many humans were feeling during the pandemic, Meg’s passion has now snowballed into an impressive portfolio and thousands of online followers. Her work breaks down current issues and makes them easier to understand, from violence against women, LGBTQ rights and Palestine to class inequality and Donald Trump. Meg spoke to us about how she found her artistic style, her icons, and why she refuses to give in to societal pressures regarding femininity and sexuality. Read the full interview - link in comments.
