About us
The Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) is an independent organisation that works alongside government and industry to transform aerospace through technology and innovation. The ATI is funded equally by the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and by industrial recipients of project grants. ATI projects are chosen and overseen through close collaboration with Innovate UK and DBT. Our role is to establish a challenging technology strategy for the sector and to develop a portfolio of research and technology activity to realise that strategy, exploiting the sector's strengths and helping UK aerospace to reach its full potential in the global market.

2024 marked the ATI’s tenth year of transforming aerospace through technology and innovation and we are thrilled to share our latest impact report. 🌍 This year we hosted over 1,000 visitors at our Destination Zero stand at Farnborough International Airshow, over 450 people have participated in our ATI Hub events spotlighting innovative SMEs and startups, and we also signed partnership agreements with the Regional Aerospace Alliances, plus so much more. ATI-supported projects continued to reach new heights, surpass milestones and deliver impact across the country: 👋 The opening of FutureForge in Scotland at the Advanced Forming Research Centre. 🛩️ Vertical Aerospace successfully completed the first phase of their piloted flight test programme. ✈️ Development in wings continues at pace with the installation of the Wing of Tomorrow demonstrator at Airbus’s AIRTec facility and technologies developed through the OptiComp project, led by Spirit AeroSystems, being adopted in the manufacturing of A220 wings. 💡 Long-term certainty for aerospace R&D in the UK In last month’s Budget the chancellor named aerospace as one of the sectors with the biggest growth potential while confirming the government’s commitment to £975m of funding for the ATI Programme from 2026 to 2030. Today, the announcement was marked with the Prime Minister visiting Wales, where we also held this year’s ATI Conference. With 5% of the UK population but around 10% of the UK’s aerospace industry, Wales is home to one of the largest aerospace clusters in the world, employing over 20,000 people. Discover more about the announcement which will support highly skilled jobs across the nations and regions of the UK while powering our journey to Destination Zero: https://lnkd.in/gywUBQxF Find out more about the ATI Programme: https://lnkd.in/eQM7z2XF #DestinationZero
