We are incredibly proud of our company’s achievements this year. Our growth has been the fastest on record. The addition of a second ICO-approved standard, #LOCS23 (awaiting our final UKAS audit in January 2025), our alternative to full certification for data sanitisation with #EllisonTest, and after seven years in the making, the launch of the #ADISAAcademy has made for a really successful year. 2025 is going to be even bigger, and we are so looking forward to sharing more with you in the new year.   We are grateful to everyone who joined us at the #ADISAConference, attended webinars, chatted with us at conferences, enquired about certification and watched, liked, and interacted with our content. Thank you to our new customers, and our continued thanks to businesses that have been with us for years. Your acute interest in data security, making businesses robust in protecting, handling, and sanitising data is remarkable.   Our business is closed as of today, and we will be returning on the 6th of January. The team have worked so hard all year, and is ready for a well-deserved rest!   Best Christmas Wishes, The ADISA Team

  • After carrying out almost 60 audits on Standard 8.0 certified companies during 2024 ADISA are pleased to announce the last award of the year is for RECYCLEIT who have passed their Unannounced Surveillance Process Audit against the ICO approved Standard 8.0 meaning they maintain their certification at DISTINCTION and can provide ITAD services to a DIAL 2. Congratulations to Gregg and all the team ! Gregg Hodson Robert Doherty

  • Data sanitisation companies often invest heavily in certifications to validate their products’ capabilities, and some may wonder why 🤷 It’s simple: - For Users of Products: Certification helps identify products that work consistently, assuring users that the desired outcome is achieved. For the Vendors Themselves: - Certification can help vendors identify issues they might not be aware of, ensuring their products meet high standards. - It validates their products, offering peace of mind that their solutions perform as claimed. - Independent certification is the only way to validate product performance without requiring user testing, adding value to the product. Data sanitisation is becoming increasingly complex, making the choice of product a strategic decision. While non-certified products might work, ADISA’s experience shows they are vulnerable. Out of 21 products tested against NIST 800-88 and IEEE 2883 standards, only 7 have passed. With 4 more products in the queue for testing, we hope this number grows. However, as customers become more conscious that not all data sanitisation techniques are the same, product certification is key to helping them make informed decisions. • #DataSanitization depends on certified products for effectiveness, but human error or flawed procedures can compromise results. The #Ellisontest provides the most comprehensive forensic analysis available. It complements certifications by providing insights into your data sanitisation practices that regular certifications do not, allowing your business to stand out among the many. The Ellison Test provides a snapshot of your current practices and their adherence to specific criteria, but unlike certification, The Ellison Test does not tell you what to do, but rather, evaluates what you are already doing. Powered by the ADISA Research Centre, with over a decade of expertise, extensive proprietary testing techniques and a global reach, we can send forensic analysts to your site, anywhere in the world. 🟩 Assure your customer that your service is serious about data security. 🟩 Stand out from 1000s of certified companies. 🟩 Reduce human error by training your staff to fully understand data sanitisation 🟩 Evidence compliance with IEEE-2883 & NIST 800-88. 🟩 Third-party expert verification of capability. • What does the Ellison Test test? #People We provide data sanitization training   Your staff will have access to training courses and assessments to test their knowledge of storage media and data sanitization. #Product We evaluate if your products are fit for purpose We will test your compliance with recognized standards such as NIST 800-88 and IEEE 2883. Laboratory Evaluation of outcomes following media destruction by the target under evaluation. #Process We test how your tools are configured, maintained and used Are the products configured and being used as per manufacturers’ guidelines? Are the products being used holding appropriate certifications? Are the products being used maintained and appropriated, having their configuration regularly checked and their output verified? https://ellisontest.com/

  • "We have ISO 27001" ISO 27001 is a far-reaching Information Security Standard designed to help organisations protect data within their own network. However, it was never designed as a measurement of the ITAD process. While it is an international standard, relying on it for an ITAD service provider can lead to vulnerabilities. Our advice to organisations when looking for ITAD partners and using ISO 27001 is as follows:   ❓Check the Scope: Ensure the ITAD service is actually included within the scope of ISO 27001. ❓Review the Report: Examine the ISO 27001 report to see how the control required in A.8.3.2 is being achieved. Since there is no specification for this within ISO 27001, a decision must be made on whether the control is sufficient. ❓Consider ISO 27040: If ISO standards are preferred, ISO 27040 includes a specification for data sanitisation. However, it is a direct copy of NIST 800-88 and is currently being updated to align with IEEE 2883. ❓Understand Vulnerabilities: NIST 800-88 (and therefore ISO 27040) has vulnerabilities, such as ineffective factory resets on network devices and the need for customer approval of all products. ❓Ensure GDPR Compliance: ISO 27001 is not aligned with legal requirements, so customers must ensure GDPR compliance independently.   Using ISO 27001 leaves much room for issues when relying on it for the ITAD supply chain, whereas Standard 8.0 ensures GDPR compliance and verifies data sanitisation to the leading specification in the world.
