A Bittersweet Milestone for us here at ABG! For the past three years, our regular Town Hall meetings have been a space for connection, collaboration, and growth. Today’s meeting was especially significant—it marked both an ending and a new beginning. We want to take a moment to celebrate and thank our incredible CEO, Richard Knight, for his outstanding leadership, dedication, and vision since 2019. Under Richard’s guidance, ABG has grown stronger, embraced challenges, and achieved remarkable success. His hard work and unwavering commitment have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire us all. While it’s tough to say goodbye, we’re so excited for Richard as he begins a new chapter in retirement, exploring the world. 🌏 You will be deeply missed by the ABG family, Richard, and we wish you nothing but the happiest of adventures ahead! At the same time, we’re excited for what’s to come with our new leader Simon Nadin, who led his first Town Hall today. It’s a true passing-of-the-torch moment, and we can’t wait to see the great things Simon will bring to ABG’s future. We’ve finally broken ground on our new expansion in Baesweiler! As many of you know, our facility in Germany manufactures our SRI’s, Booklet Machines, specialist rewinders and fleyeVision Camera inspection systems to name just a few. We’re excited to say that plans to double our manufacturing space are now underway, with a dedicated demo centre, increased capacity and reduced production times to come. Do you play golf? You might be wondering why we’re asking, and it’s for a good reason! Every year, our staff come together for the annual charity Christmas quiz—a fun-filled evening that raised nearly £500 for a great cause, with over 50 colleagues joining in. However, this year’s quiz had its share of (friendly) controversy… 😳 One of our veteran teams, Mark’s Angels, claimed they were unfairly docked a point on a technicality, allowing The Christmas Puddings (quiz newcomers!) to draw with them. The question? What is a “birdie” in golf? Mark’s Angels answered: “One under par.” But after much debate, the judges ruled it incomplete - as it didn’t specify “on a hole.” What do you think? Were they hard done by, or was the decision fair? Controversy aside, the evening was a great success. We had an incredible time at the FINATlabels Technical Seminar 2024 in Barcelona, which proved to be a perfect platform for innovation and collaboration.   A special recognition goes to Dr Adrian Steele, who delivered an outstanding presentation on our automation project alongside Mercian Labels, CERM, Esko, and SCREEN Europe.
