Brilliant heart warming news tonight! The Bristol Live 's campaign to raise £25,000 for children in Bristol at risk of hunger over the festive season has smashed its target a week before Christmas. A whopping £26,714 has been donated by generous businesses, residents & community groups across the city. This money goes to the award winning Community of Purpose CIC which runs the #BreakFree progamme, supporting disadvantaged young people in South Bristol. Donations have ranged from £5 to £6,000 & will be spent on providing food & fun for 1,000 children this winter including a Christmas lunch, care package & supplies to take home. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞? • 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: Sitting with my children as they share their dreams and wishes without interrupting. • 𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝: Speaking up in a meeting, knowing my ideas matter. • 𝐔𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐲 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞: Giving honest feedback, even when it’s uncomfortable. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐲? • 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬: Scrolling when someone’s talking. • 𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 “𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐲”: Half-listening while thinking about the next task. • 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬: Conversations turning into confrontations. • 𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐡𝐮𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧: When someone dismisses or talks over you. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐭 • Frustration. • Miscommunication. • Disconnection. • Resentment. I’ve felt all of these at times, and I’ve seen what happens when I don’t listen—or when my voice isn’t heard. It takes intentional effort to break the cycle, to put the phone down, to stay present, to lean into vulnerability and speak up.
