Our London team led the design for a £50 million makeover of Manchester’s AO Arena. The project brings new life to one of the UK’s premier entertainment venues while preserving what makes it special—including its massive 23,000-seat bowl. “We love having the opportunity to unlock the hidden potential in existing venues like AO Arena,” says John Rhodes, a director of Sports + Entertainment for HOK in London. “These improvements position the arena to continue as the heart of Manchester’s legendary music and entertainment scene for decades to come.” The centrepiece of the renovation is The Mezz, a unique new hospitality destination that provides direct access to premium seats that enjoy panoramic views of the main stage. Levy tasked 20.20 with creating a brand that would reflect the energy and location of this vibrant street food destination at London ExCeL. The Waterfront is a brand-new dining experience and a key part of ExCeL’s local and growing entertainment district, Immerse LDN. Inspired by the historic importance of the London Docklands, the international influence of nearby City Airport and a fresh street food offer, we set out to create a unique visual identity. Odeon Cinemas Group wanted to convey the various levels of experiences available at their cinemas and tasked 20.20 to conceive a brand new creative campaign. “A Little More”, created by the team at 20.20, creates the start of a conversation that could go in so many directions. We designed a toolkit for the campaign that helped ODEON Cinema Group brands to adapt the format, colours and copy to meet their market’s needs. The creative had a successful premiere for the launch of Filmstaden Uppsala Luxe in Sweden. Last week 20.20’s Jon Lee, presented ‘Maximising Revenues from Existing Spaces’ at ALSD with Yvette Thompson and Colin Perkins from Newcastle United FC. We unveiled how we conceived new hospitality experiences from our research, working closely with the venue, sales, and marketing teams at the Club, to create the perfect offering for these two premium hospitality spaces (Rooftops & Wings). Our final post showcases how we design every detail and touchpoint, ensuring signage, Artist journeys and General admission areas align with the vision. When transforming a guest experience for everyone from GA to VIP; all signage had to reflect AO's branding, so we mapped every single point of brand communication and created a hierarchy and set of principles.
