The heart of any ecosystem is the startups that are working to build it. 👩🔧👨🔧 Following two engaging panel discussions by ecosystem stakeholders and investors, we hosted a fireside chat (moderated by Inna Nelles (Borzylo)) as part of the Ecosystem Connectors | Berlin Kyiv launch event. The fireside chat focused on amplifying the voices and experiences of startup founders working across Berlin and Kyiv. On the one hand, we were joined by Eduardo Sotelo, who founded Horus Prosthetics. A Berlin-based company that produces affordable, tailor-made prosthetics under 90 minutes. They’ve been operating in Ukraine for a year now, starting with the production of 40 prosthetics to now collaborating with local clinics that are producing 20 a month. On the other hand, we were joined by Oleksandr Iefremov, who founded Kitsoft 🇺🇦, a Ukrainian-based company working on digitalization solutions for government and business. They were a crucial part of the development of Diia, the nationwide platform for governmental services. With Eduardo working to expand from Berlin to Kyiv, and Oleksandr working to expand from Kyiv to Berlin, they had a lot of knowledge to exchange. Here are some of their key insights: 👉 Eduardo: “We are doing something, but I think we need to do much more. I think we need to be active there. We need to go to Ukraine, to send our people there to work on solutions together. It’s also something I’ve learned in the last year, and why I always try to work with private clinics and public hospitals (on the ground).” 👉 Oleksandr: “My goals here are very similar, trying to build a new team with a ground of people in Ukraine. You need much more initial funding to start a company here. And in GovTech, where the level of entrance is higher, you need to do a lot of stuff to go that market. But it’s nothing new to us, because we experienced the same in Ukraine. It’s just a new challenge, but still we have all the knowledge, methods and approaches in our background.” Oleksandr also spoke about the ecosystem, citing Ukraine as a good space for startups as you could pilot and test new technologies faster there. When reflecting on the potential of the collaboration between Berlin and Kyiv, both had one sentence to share: 💙 Eduardo: People from Berlin or Germany should go to Kyiv.  💛 Oleksandr: Break the wall in minds and cooperate between all parties. • 🇺🇦🤝🇪🇪 Ukraine and Estonia join forces for cybersecurity! On December 9, the Ukrainian-Estonian Business Forum took place in Kyiv, focusing on shared challenges and opportunities in cybersecurity, digital resilience, and IT. Kitsoft CEO Oleksandr Iefremov presented the Security Operations Center (SOC) — solution for protecting government IT systems and critical infrastructure. 🔒 In a world where cyberattacks increase by 15-20% annually, cooperation between Ukraine and Estonia is of strategic importance. Both countries have accumulated substantial experience and unique expertise in cybersecurity, offering significant potential for scaling innovations. Joint efforts will not only enhance digital resilience but also strengthen competitive positions in the global market. 💬 “Estonia and Ukraine share common cybersecurity challenges, and only by combining our efforts, we have a chance to effectively overcome them. The partnership helps not only to strengthen the cyber defense of both countries but also to promote our innovations globally,” — said Oleksandr Iefremov. 🌍 Estonian companies have already successfully exported their solutions to Europe and Africa, and Ukrainian innovations also have immense potential to be in high demand. An important factor in Estonian businesses entering international markets is government support, and Estonia should serve as an example for Ukraine. 💙 Despite the challenges of war, Estonian companies are successfully operating in Ukraine, investing and supporting our country. It is inspiring how many Estonians are eager to learn the Ukrainian language — this evokes deep respect and admiration! 🫶 The forum marked another significant step in the development of the Ukrainian-Estonian partnership. As a result, we exchanged experiences and agreed on concrete steps and further cooperation. 🔗 More about the forum’s outcomes — at the link: https://lnkd.in/dENkTK8g We thank all the participants for their productive discussions, valuable insights, and willingness to share their experiences! • ✨ The Proftech vocational education aggregator won gold at the Effie Awards Ukraine 2024 ✨ Kitsoft developed the Proftech web portal to implement the communication strategy of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The project became the winner in the Youth Marketing nomination. 👏 Congratulations to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine team! We are happy to be part of this important project 🫶 Effie Awards Ukraine is an annual award recognizing Ukraine's most effective marketing communications. 🔹 The Proftech web portal became part of this year's admission campaign. It aimed to increase young people's interest in vocational education and help them choose their future profession. The web portal collected training programs, specialties, expected compensation, and other useful resources — everything to show applicants prospects and opportunities. Also at the Effie Awards Ukraine 2024, the mental health web portal “How are you?” was recognized in the “State and Public Services” category. Our team developed this portal for the NGO “Barrier-Free”. “How are you?” helps Ukrainians take care of their mental health by providing effective tools and support mechanisms. 💙 We thank our partners for their trust, and our #KitsoftTeam for their professionalism and dedication! 🚀

  • 🇩🇪 🇺🇦 On December 2, we took part in Ecosystem Connectors | Berlin Kyiv, an event organized by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in cooperation with Enpact. The event brought together entrepreneurs, government officials, and investors to strengthen ties between the startup ecosystems of Berlin and Kyiv. 🎤 Kitsoft CEO Oleksandr Iefremov shared Ukraine's digitalization experience and presented our low-code platform Liquio, which has become the foundation for many government digital services — notably, the Diia state services portal, recognized globally as a benchmark for e-government. He emphasized that Ukraine is not only a recipient of aid but also a thriving center of innovation, capable of delivering effective solutions for the digitalization of cities and governments. The experience of Ukrainians who moved to Germany at the start of russia's full-scale invasion has played a significant role in rethinking approaches to public service transformation in the country: 💬 “The demand for digital public services in Germany is immense, as bureaucracy hinders business and creates challenges for citizens. People expect change, and politicians are increasingly embracing digitalization. Ukrainian innovations are already changing the world, and we are ready to offer even more in the future.” 🤝 Oleksandr Iefremov and Kitsoft's Partner in Germany Michael Hübner discussed how Liquio can support Germany's digital transformation with Franziska Giffey, Senator for Economic Affairs, Energy, and Public Enterprises. These dialogues open up new prospects for partnerships and scaling our technologies to European markets. We thank the organizers and look forward to productive collaboration and successful joint projects 🚀
