  • Today is International Human Rights Day - a fair reminder that HR isn't about policies and procedures, but about PEOPLE - and one of the best ways to bring people fundamental human rights is through thoughtful and well-executed HR Strategies. In this article, we look at the overlap between human rights and HR strategy and why promoting human rights makes not only ethical sense but business sense as well! #internationalhumanrightsday #hr #hrstrategy

The end of 2024 is upon us. I can’t stop thinking about a powerful notion that a palliative care doctor shared with me. I have dubbed it The Promise of Endings. And who could know more about endings? She observed that the experience of a person’s last days impacts their perception of their entire life. The right kind of ending, can give someone who had a hard life, a positive view of their existence. The converse is true for someone who lived a fulfilling life; their perception can be tainted if their ending moments are trying. This had me thinking about the promise of endings. Whether in the final days of a relationship, a job, or a project, you still get to choose how you end. If you’re not too happy with how your year has been, here’s how you can change your perception. Get Real Reflect on 2024. Acknowledge what didn’t work. Assess where things fell short or went off track this year. Get Inspired Ideate on one or two things to win the year. What could shift your narrative for 2024? What would make you feel proud or fulfilled? Get Going Move forward with purpose. Make those last efforts count and close out the year on your terms.

  • 📚 I'm back with another helpful book review! 😄 Mindset by Carol Dweck 🌟 Dr. Carol Dweck’s groundbreaking book, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, challenges us to rethink how we approach challenges, learning, and growth. At the core of the book lies the idea of two mindsets: ✅ Growth Mindset: Belief that abilities can be developed through dedication and effort. Challenges are embraced as opportunities to learn, and failures are seen as stepping stones to success. ✅ Fixed Mindset: Belief that abilities are static and cannot change. Challenges are avoided, and failures are seen as proof of inadequacy. Dweck argues that adopting a growth mindset leads to greater success, resilience, and personal development. It fosters a love for learning and encourages individuals to take risks, embrace feedback, and continuously improve. 💡 The Key Takeaway: The book proves that we can ALL learn and grow—once we believe we can. Effort isn’t something to be feared; it’s something to value. Whether you're a business leader, HR professional, or simply looking to improve yourself, Mindset offers actionable insights on how to shift your perspective to unlock your potential. It’s a must-read for anyone striving to cultivate a culture of growth in their life or workplace. This book is a definite read if you're struggling to get out of your own way. Have you read this book? What’s your biggest takeaway? • 🌟 Celebrating International Men’s Day 2024 🌟 Today, we honour Men’s Health Champions—this year’s International Men’s Day theme! This is a powerful reminder to focus on improving men’s overall well-being, promoting healthy lifestyles, and encouraging a balance between professional and personal growth. For men in management, HR, leadership, and business ownership, your health is the foundation of your success—not just physical but mental and emotional health, too. 🧠💪 As leaders, you wear many hats—guiding teams, solving challenges, driving growth. But remember, to be at your best, you need to take care of YOU. Here are some key reminders for the champions in the workplace: ✅ Prioritize Self-Care: Regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and sleep are not luxuries—they’re essentials for peak performance. ✅ Foster Mental Health: Open up, seek support when needed, and don’t hesitate to lean on your community. Strong leaders seek help too! ✅ Lead by Example: Demonstrate the importance of well-being to your team. A healthy leader inspires a healthy organization. ✅ Find Balance: Growth doesn’t happen in burnout. Take time for the things that matter most—your family, passions, and personal time. Let’s use this day to reflect on the importance of healthy, balanced leadership and celebrate the men who lead with courage, compassion, and purpose. 💼💙 💬 How are you prioritizing your well-being this year? Let’s make 2024 a year where men’s health and leadership go hand in hand. #InternationalMensDay #MensHealthChampions #LeadershipWellness #HealthyLeadership #HRLeaders #BusinessOwners #MensHealthMatters #LeadershipGrowth #BalanceAndSuccess

📚 My Thoughts on Everybody Matters by Bob Chapman 🌟 This book has been a real game-changer for me as a professional and small business advocate. Everybody Matters isn’t just about business strategy—it’s about putting people first and building businesses that truly care for the well-being of their teams. Chapman highlights how fostering a culture of compassionate leadership and valuing each individual in an organization leads to greater success, productivity, and personal fulfillment. For small business owners and leaders, it’s a powerful reminder that when we invest in people, we’re investing in the heart of our business. 💼❤️ I’m passionate about reading because it’s through books like this that I gain fresh perspectives and tools to grow not only in my business but also personally. Shoutout to my dear colleague @PetraSookram, who I can't thank enough for recommending and gifting me this awesome read! If you’re a leader or aspiring to build a better workplace, I can’t recommend this book enough! 📖✨ #EverybodyMatters #BobChapman #Leadership #PeopleFirst #BusinessSuccess #CompassionateLeadership #SmallBusinessGrowth #ReadToLead #BookRecommendation #ProfessionalDevelopment
