  • In this issue of Global Payroll 04.05, there is again an article by Ayşe Nazmiye Uça: Can Money Buy CEO Success? For the rest of the article: https://lnkd.in/diuXrKUr Ayşe Nazmiye Uça’s article examines whether high CEO salaries drive corporate success or merely reflect it. Highlighting global disparities in CEO pay, she notes U.S. CEOs average $15.7 million annually, far surpassing their UK and Turkish counterparts, sparking concerns like “brain drain” in the UK. Uça critiques performance-based pay, pointing out its potential to encourage short-term gains over long-term growth. She also addresses the risks of stock-based compensation, which may lead to stock price manipulation rather than sustainable progress. Drawing on insights from Thomas Piketty, Uça questions the fairness and equity of CEOs wielding significant control over their salaries. Ultimately, she advocates for competitive pay that reflects genuine value creation while avoiding inequality or self-serving interests. This timely analysis offers valuable insights into corporate governance and the ethics of leadership.
