Sharing insights about this groundbreaking project was an inspiring experience, highlighting its critical role in shaping the future of #cleanenergy. 🚀 🤝 Additionally, we had the opportunity to meet with our project officer, Renata Kadric, to discuss the progress of our project and plan the next steps for the upcoming period. Here are some key takeaways from #EUHydrogenWeek2024 for the Future of #Hydrogen 🌱 🌍 * The #hydrogen sector has seen tremendous investment and progress in recent years, but the journey has just begun. Collaboration, infrastructure, and simplicity are key to unlocking #greenhydrogen's potential as a cornerstone of the global energy transition. #Hydrogen has come a long way in the past five years, with over $75 billion invested globally. However, to sustain and accelerate this momentum, there are critical areas we need to focus on: * Creating strong demand is crucial. Everything that guarantees offtake must be prioritized, * Infrastructure matters. Pipes and ports are essential for transporting and storing #renewableenergy at scale. * Emerging markets thrive simplicity. For Europe, simplifying renewable hydrogen definitions and addressing regulatory bottlenecks should be a priority. * We need collectively drive this change and ensure that #hydrogen fulfills its promise as a #sustainableenergy solution. 🚗 Stara Zagora is just a 4-hour drive from South Marmara. 🎯 This week, Güney Marmara Kalkınma Ajansı and Trakia University-Stara Zagora, the coordinators of Türkiye’s and Bulgaria’s first H₂ Valleys, came together in #SouthMarmara. Both projects, HYSouthMarmara and ZAHYR, supported by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, represent significant steps toward a sustainable, hydrogen-driven future across #Europe. 🔵 HYSouthMarmara Project is dedicated to creating a model for #Türkiye. With approximately €𝟖 million in EU funding out of a total €𝟑𝟖 million budget, a consortium of 𝟏𝟓 partners is working to develop a hydrogen ecosystem in the South Marmara region. 🔴 ZAHYR Project, based in #StaraZagora, #Bulgaria, will demonstrate hydrogen's versatility in transport applications. The project aims to reduce CO₂ emissions and promote a hydrogen-based economy both regionally and beyond. 🤝 Our discussions with the ZAHYR team were incredibly fruitful as we exchanged knowledge and explored synergies between our projects. We are excited about the potential collaborative opportunities that could significantly enhance our collective impact on the hydrogen economy within our regions and across Europe. T.C. 🥇 As one of the major industrial players in #SouthMarmara, Limak Cement has achieved a world first by using a hydrogen-blended, 50% carbon-neutral fuel in the calciner. Air Liquide supplied the #hydrogen for the initial trials conducted at Limak's facilities in Ankara. The company has ambitious goals to use clean hydrogen in all of its cement factories.   🎯Limak has 10 plants in #Türkiye and one of their key plants continues its operations in South Marmara: 🟢With a significant history as Türkiye's 12th cement factory, the plant produces 1.100.000 tons of clinker and 2.100.000 tons of #cement annually. 🟢Due to its strategic location in South Marmara, the factory is close to both Sea of Marmara and Aegean Sea and has high export potential, especially with its existing railway connection. 🟢Therefore, the plant will be one of the facilities where the company accelerates its green transition in line with the #EuropeanGreenDeal in the coming period.   ♻️On September 13, 2021, a protocol was signed between Güney Marmara Kalkınma Ajansı, Limak Cement, and Eti Maden to commit to joint efforts in the field of green transition. Within this scope, Limak stands out as one of the consumers of green hydrogen to be produced in South Marmara in the years to come. As part of their decarbonization roadmap, the Company aims: 🔹To establish 250 MW of Renewable Energy by 2030, 🔹To reduce CO₂ emissions to 498 kg per ton of cement by 2030, 🔹Finally to become a net-zero company before 2050.   🔜Limak plans to operate all of their factories with a hydrogen-blended, carbon-neutral fuel mixture by 2030, requiring a significant amount of clean hydrogen to meet this goal. This transition will lead to an annual reduction of 700.000 tons of CO₂ emissions. As one of the potential large consumers in the region, they will have access to green fuels produced in South Marmara at competitive prices and through efficient methods.   📌HYSouthMarmara will facilitate the green transition of cement industry in the Region and in Türkiye❗️ T.C.
