Essential Duties: Responsible for the pre-trip inspection of the support pick up, aerial cable placer, trailer, and truck.
This includes checking fluid levels of the truck, refueling and keeping it clean, neat and organized.
May also include inspection of traffic signs, cones, paddles, and sign stands daily to ensure they are accounted for and in good working order.
This will include red tagging or writing up any deficiencies in the truck or equipment.
Responsible for communication with the aerial foreman of the crew to determine equipment and material needs for the day; including basic stock on the truck as well as ensuring equipment is in good working order.
Will be preparing and/or retrieving materials/equipment from the truck for the foreman.
Will be driving the truck while placing strand, coax, or fiber.
Able to help and learn on the job as asked.
Will work individually or with one or more persons to set up a work zone based off of instructions from either the aerial foreman.
This includes setting out signs and using cones however necessary in accordance with state required guidelines.
(City guidelines vary and may require a different setup).
Flagging for traffic control at the direction of the foreman as required.
Required to maintain and be equipped with PPE and have it ready for use at all times.
Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Physical Demands: The employee must be willing and able to work in extreme weather conditions the entire year.
On the job training will be a part of the daily duties.
Must be able to lift and maneuver up to sixty pounds over their heads on a daily basis.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability, and physical demand to perform as a Laborer/Apprentice.
All employees of Custom Utilicom Incorporated may be required to perform tasks that fall outside of the above listed job description.
Education and Other Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent and/or continued education in a technical field a plus but not required.
Experience climbing a utility pole using either gaffs or a fiberglass extension ladder a plus, but not required; although, the desire to learn to climb a utility pole would also be a plus.
Experience related to traffic control and roadside work zones a plus.
Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record with the ability to be insured under the Company’s insurance policy is required.
CDL A license strongly encouraged, but not required.
