Job Summary:
As a Construction Director for Nexus, your role is to oversee and manage the Nexus Construction Management team.
You will be responsible for leading a team that will support the safe and successful execution of construction projects, adhering to safety standards, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
The Construction Director’s expertise in construction management, knowledge of the industry regulations, and strong leadership skills will be essential in coordinating various stakeholders and achieving project objectives.
Key Accountabilities:
Develop the Nexus Construction Management offering, liaising with the wider Project Services Group
Lead the development of Nexus’ Construction Management processes and systems
Develop and mentor the Construction Management Team, define the organization, accountabilities and responsibilities for each team member.
Build relationships with Clients, inform them of the Nexus integrated Project Services offering
Develop/provide input in response to RFP’s for services
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Lead and manage a multidisciplinary teams of construction professionals, including contractors, engineers, engineers, and subcontractors.
Provide guidance, support, and performance feedback to ensure project milestones are met.
Project Planning: Collaborate with project stakeholders to develop comprehensive construction plans, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budgeting, ensuring alignment with project objectives and regulatory requirements.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Implement effective safety measures to ensure a secure and hazard-free construction environment.
Quality Assurance: Establish quality control processes and ensure adherence to specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct inspections and audits to verify compliance and address any non-conformities promptly.
Procurement and Contract Interface: Provide support in contract negotiations for equipment and construction contracts, review terms and conditions, and support the Procurement team with contractual relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and resolve any disputes or issues that may arise.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Extensive experience in construction management, particularly in industries serviced by Nexus.
Ability to deliver ‘bad news early’ to both internal and external stakeholders in a positive manner.
Strong leadership abilities with the skills to motivate and manage a diverse construction team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
Proven ability to manage budgets, control costs, and optimize resources.
Familiarity with construction software, project management tools, and relevant industry technologies.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
A master's degree is advantageous.
Sound understanding of construction methodologies, project scheduling, and risk management.
