*Description: *
There are differences between a therapist who provides autism services and one that exclusively specializes in autism services.
The highly trained, expert clinical therapist will take a comprehensive approach to autism counseling, ensuring all psychological, physical, and financial needs are met across the lifespan.
*Responsibilities:*
● Completes initial diagnostic assessments on each client/family to include demographic and psychosocial information.
● Ensures that the emotional and social needs of the client and family are met and maintained by providing individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, psychoeducation, and referrals and resources to community programs.
● Focuses on development of practical skills through the use of interactive therapeutic activities to improve self-help and community engagement.
● Utilizes a solution-focused theoretical orientation.
● Collaborates with and advocates to the client’s interdisciplinary team members including physicians, therapists, teachers, and staff to optimize opportunities for the individual.
● Provides services primarily via telehealth, supplemented with home or community sessions, as appropriate.
● Maintains accurate medical documentation records and completes in a timely manner.
● Other duties as assigned.
*Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:*
● Knowledge, understanding of, and passion to empower individuals with autism spectrum disorder.
● Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently.
● Excellent written and oral communication skills, time management, and organizational skills.
● Exudes a teamwork mentality and works effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.
● Maintains confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA policies.
● Able to effectively utilize a variety of technology platforms including Zoom, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and electronic health record software.
● Prior telehealth experience preferred.
*Qualifications & Requirements:*
● Master’s degree in social work.
●Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in the State of Ohio required; LISW preferred.
Licensed or willing to be licensed in Michigan.
● Reliable transportation, driver’s license in good standing, valid car insurance, and willingness to travel within the Northwest Ohio region.
Preference given to candidates who reside in Northwest Ohio/Southeast Michigan.
●Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings, weekends, and split shifts.
●Must have a private home workspace and home internet service.
