This position will serve as a coach/guide to eligible participants as they seek to return or enter post secondary education.
Community and project based knowledge of admissions, financial aid and advising processes is key.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Previous knowledge/experience working with and advising at-risk students.
Previous knowledge/experience working with disadvantaged and/or underrepresented students on a college campus or in higher education.
Knowledge/experience supervising student staff.
Knowledge of financial aid and financial assistance processes is required.
Knowledge of TRIO Programs as staff or program participant.
Evidence of strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to working with multi-cultural populations and awareness of issues affecting women and minorities.
The ability to work effectively with disadvantaged students as well as other students, faculty and staff from a wide variety of racial, ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Evidence of the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a team player.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
Essential Functions:
Collaborate with social service agencies, community organizations and educational programs to identify eligible participants; Advise EOC participants.
Assists in the coordination of intake applications; electronic and paper materials and other related information.
Conduct individual needs assessments.
Provide academic, vocational, career, and financial aid planning and progression monitoring.
Provide support and referrals to college/university and community resources.
Provide support services to Veterans including assistance with admission, financial aid and program advising.
Gather participant data and assist in preparing progress reports.
Attend and participate in EOC meetings and professional development activities.
Serve on community committees related to the work and purpose of EOC.
Provide EOC Program services remotely.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree
Experience with admissions, advising or financial aid offices in higher education.
Two years experience working with diverse populations.
