🚀 Our Journey to a Passwordless Future 🚀 It’s been more than four months since we made the bold decision to go completely passwordless across our entire ecosystem, both web and native apps. We're proud to say that we might be the first startup in Tunisia to take this step. Why go passwordless? Our goal was to enhance security and simplify the user experience. However, the challenge we faced was that many of our users aren’t particularly tech-savvy, so solutions like Google OAuth weren’t suitable. How we did it: Initial Phase: We started with two-step authentication using SMS OTPs. While it was a necessary first step, the SMS API’s unreliability caused some disruptions—like receiving calls at 5 a.m.! Current Phase: We’ve now transitioned to passkeys and a TOTP code generation app. While this move has been smoother, we’ve encountered a few challenges: - Windows devices require Windows Hello for passkeys to work. - IOS, Android need to be up to date, along with the browser being current as well. - Mobile devices need to have some form of security (password, pattern, etc.). And yes, a lot of users still don’t lock their phones—believe it or not! Despite these challenges, the transition has been mostly smooth, and we’re adapting as we go. This creative process fueled our ideation, ensuring every aspect of our UI was meticulously crafted for optimal user experience. From initial sketches to refined mockups and prototypes, we meticulously fine-tuned our UI, always keeping our primary users, students seeking internships, at the forefront. Using tools like Figma and Maze, we conducted rigorous testing, refining every interaction to perfection. Unlike traditional industries that rely on raw materials, software requires only talent, creativity, and determination. With the right focus, we can attract and keep some of the brightest minds, build exportable products, and create long-term assets that don't deplete with use. instead of applying transactions on parts of your code and may forget some of them ,  what do you think about applying a transaction for all routes ? you can simply create a middleware called TransactionMiddleware for ex and write some code as mentioned bellow for transaction handling , then  register middleware in kernel.php file as global middleware or in middlewareAliases array if you want to apply it on specific routes . in catch block you can customize error as you wish 😄 . #Laravel #Transactions #Middleware

Have you ever wondered what really happens when you "Add banking card" on an app? Some apps in Algeria let users to save their card details for quick, one-click payments, but this convenience comes with a price. Unlike other networks, SATIM doesn’t allow card info to be stored on app servers, as part of their official security guidelines. This rule is in place to help protect against unauthorized access and fraud. But with online payment fraud on the rise in Algeria, we’re seeing a concerning trend: some apps may be bypassing this rule and storing card details anyway. And while these apps may reassure users by saying, “We’re PCI-DSS certified,” even the biggest names, like Capital One and JP Morgan Chase, have suffered major breaches despite following these standards. PCI-DSS compliance is helpful, but it’s not a guarantee against leaks. Complex cyber attacks and security gaps can still expose sensitive information. In the past few weeks, many users in Algeria have suffered from online payment fraud. Could unauthorized storage of card data be part of the problem? With SATIM recently experiencing outages, it’s fair to ask whether these risky storage practices are contributing to the issue. Apps that let you “Add Your Card” might actually be adding to the risk. Knowing where your data is stored and choosing not to save sensitive info might be the best way to stay safe from e-payment frauds.
