Telecom startup Velmenni says received grant under iDEX initiative for its Li-Fi tech
It added that the grant validates Li-Fi’s potential to address the Indian Navy’s communication challenges in harsh defence environments.
NEW DELHI: Velmenni on Monday said it has received a grant from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) under the Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) for its Light Fidelity (Li-Fi) technology.
The New Delhi-headquartered startup said the grant will strengthen secure wireless communications for India’s defence forces, especially the Indian Navy.
It added that the grant validates Li-Fi’s potential to address the Indian Navy’s communication challenges in harsh defence environments.
“The iDEX Grant is a testament to the potential of our Li-Fi technology," said Deepak Solanki, Founder and CEO, Velmenni, "With these resources, we are poised to revolutionise wireless communication, ensuring secure and efficient data transmission using light. Our commitment to this groundbreaking technology reflects our dedication to innovation.”
The startup, a beneficiary of the Digital Communication Innovation Square (DCIS) scheme of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), said its technology – which uses the visible light spectrum for communications – offers “superior security and efficient performance”, making it ideal for the Indian Navy’s communications requirements.
Velmenni affirmed that its technology has the potential to enhance data transmission for the Indian Navy and other defence applications.
