We're looking for a Child Care Licensor (Social & Health Program Consultant 2) to join our team to administer policies to ensure the protection, health, safety, and well-being of children.
The Opportunity As a Child Care Licensor (SHPC2), your role will be located in our Tacoma office.
Your main responsibility will be to license child care and early learning services and ensure that consistent procedures are followed in compliance with RCWs, WACs, and policies.
This includes overseeing various policies related to recruitment, development, technical assistance, monitoring, complaint inspections, and legal activities for all child care and early learning environments, such as Child Care Centers, School Age programs, and Family Home Child Care programs.
Some of what you'll do: Assess childcare facilities to ensure the environment is safe and healthy.
Assess childcare activities and equipment to ensure developmental appropriateness, an anti-biased approach, and cultural relevancy of early learning services.
Verify care licensing qualifications in MERIT for applicants, licensees, family members, and staff for all required early learning providers, including but not limited to school-age programs, child care centers, and family home child care programs.
Submit licenses and certifications to the Child Care Licensing Supervisor Provides ongoing technical assistance to early learning providers.
Create and maintain individual files for early learning providers as per DCYF's schedule and policies.
Update assigned licenses per DCYF policy and procedure to ensure they do not expire in the licensing management system Required Qualifications: One (1) year of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 1.
OR A Master's degree or higher in social work, health or social science, public administration, or a related field.
Two (2) years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs.
OR A Bachelor's degree in social work, health or social science, public administration or a related field.
Three (3) years of professional experience in planning, administering, developing, or delivering social, financial, health, or chemical dependency treatment services programs.
Notes: A degree in Social Work must be from an educational program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
One (1) year of paid social service experience must include assessing risk and safety to children and providing direct family-centered practice services (strengthening and preserving family units).
Incumbent must complete Social Worker Training Academy Institute, as well as specialized licensing track training within one year of initial appointment.
**Degree must be obtained from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U.
S.
Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or foreign equivalent verified by a NACES-approved organization at naces.
org.
**Foreign Equivalency certification must be attached to the application for degrees obtained outside the U.
S.

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following: Experience in monitoring or overseeing licensed child care, Head Start, or ECEAP performance standards.
Demonstrated knowledge of the Principles of child development; risk assessment and decision-making.

Demonstrated interviewing skills.
Demonstrated ability to serve the role of expert representative in both court proceedings and multi-disciplinary team service delivery.
Demonstrated knowledge of group work and group dynamics.
Demonstrated knowledge of current literature on early care and education practices as well as concepts of community resources.
