Megan Rapinoe
Two-time World Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist Megan Rapinoe is a true professional soccer legend.
A vocal leader in every aspect of her life, she helped lead the USWNT to the 2019 Women’s World Cup championship, where she scored some of the biggest goals of the tournament and took home itss two top honors – the Golden Boot for top scorer, and the Golden Ball for the best player in the tournament. That same year, she made her SI Swimsuit debut as the first openly gay woman to pose for the magazine, and she was also named SI’s Sportsperson of the Year.
Rapinoe is a New York Times’ bestselling author, one of Time100’s Most Influential People and a recent Presidential Medal of Freedom award recipient.
She uses her platform to advocate for equality and bridge the gap between women’s and men’s sports. At the end of 2022, Rapinoe and fiancé Sue Bird launched production company “A Touch More,” focused on promoting narratives around revolutionaries who move culture forward. The company hopes to amplify stories focused on identity, activism and underrepresented groups.
The California native, who is a three-time Olympian, played for the NWSL’s Seattle Reign FC for 10 years, before officially retiring from soccer in 2023.
