What's new

  • Rotation locking. When you rotate an object slightly, you can set it back to zero degrees (so that it does not appear rotated). You can also rotate objects to fixed intervals. Objects will "lock" at 0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees when rotated less than 3 degrees from those angles.

  • Straight lines. Draw straight lines. 
  • Zooming. Zoom in and out of frames.
  • Copy/Paste frames within a jam. Use copy and paste to manage frames within a jam.

What's new

  • Updated toolbar and frame bar, and overflow menu.
  • Pens and colors are nested together.
  • Text and shape recognition tools , along with autodraw, are nested with pens.
  • To clear a frame, tap the Erase tool, then tap Clear frame at the bottom of the jam.
  • The Select tool has changed to an arrow shape. To select an object, tap it with two fingers. This replaces the long press feature for selecting objects.
  • Image search, web search, stickers, and camera tools are nested together.
  • The laser pointer tool is now separate from the other tools.
  • The undo and redo buttons have moved to the bottom of the toolbar.
  • The framebar overflow menu contains duplicate and background color options.
  • Frames are now numbered.
  • Tap the framebar to see a list of collaborators in your jam.

Web

What's new

  • You can open a jam on a board by tapping Open on Jamboard. This replaces using jam codes to open a jam on Jamboard.
  • Improved animations in the frame bar.

  • Fixed a bug where deselecting certain objects left marks on the frame at times.
  • Fixed a bug that caused a crash to occur when drawing while joining a meeting at times.
  • Fixed a problem where a no internet warning toast showed up even after connecting to Wi-Fi network at times.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented users from joining a named Hangout.
  • Fixed a bug where the Permissions menu did not properly dismiss on the Kiosk at times.

  • Fixed a bug that disabled anonymous users to edit a Jam even when link sharing is set to allow the Jam to be publicly editable.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the toolbar tooltips to appear different from other tooltips.
  • Fixed a bug where "Back" was shown instead of "Jamboard Home." 
     

Jamboard Admin console

Improvements

  • Fixed a bug where the search result shows the single device as plural “1 devices match the current filter.”
  • Fixed a bug that caused an extra line to be displayed under the “Paired chrome device...” option name.
  • Fixed a bug where only the "Device settings" panel in the device details page was showing pending setting values. Now pending setting values will also be shown in sidebar, breadcrumb, list view, etc.
  • Fixed a bug where the checkbox in additional languages didn’t always update properly.

  • Reset Zoom/Snap Back function - Users can now reset the zoom level using a snap-back or zoom-out button.

  • Framebar Visibility during Zoom - The framebar now automatically hides/displays when a user is zooming into/out of the canvas.
  • Push to Board icon - A new improved Push to Board icon.

Web

What's New

  • Drawing and Editing on Web - Users can now create and edit their jams on the web. Users can draw strokes using one of the 4 brushes, erase, select objects, and add/remove sticky notes on the web.

Jamboard Admin console

What's New

  • An all new Admin Console -  Users can now manage their Jamboards, along with users and other devices, all in one place. The Jamboard fleet management and administration controls now have a new place in the Admin console under Device Management > Jamboards.

What's New

  • View Only access role - Users can now add collaborators with View Only access to jams. Jam viewers can open and view the jam on any platform, but they cannot edit the jam.

  • Selecting and moving objects improvements - Kiosk will now display: active touch indicator, object selection border, and collaborator picks for remote collaborators
  • Improved cross platform text layout for post-it notes - Improvements to the way post-its are displayed across platforms.

What's New

  • Page numbers on frame change - Whenever a frame is changed, a distinct frame change animation displays along with the page number.
  • Autodraw - A new tool integrated with the Autodraw application to produce drawing recognition on the Jamboard.  
  • Strict sharing configuration - If strict sharing is turned on in the Admin console, when working with an unclaimed jam on a kiosk, users will need to confirm ownership by email before they are added as an owner. This prevents sharing of content before an owner is assigned. The default is off.
  • USB camera support - Users can connect a USB camera and select which camera feed they want to use (USB camera or internal camera) in the settings panel of the kiosk.
  • S/PDIF audio support - Users can attach external speakers to the board using S/PDIF, which is a rear port on the back of the device for optical audio.

  • Maximum frames message shows on attempt to create more than 20 frames.
  • Removed the 'poop' sticker.

What's New

  • Object Duplication - Users can now duplicate objects by selecting an object and clicking on the Duplicate icon.
  • Gboard Latin IME - The new Gboard keyboard on the Jamboard now lets users input text using ‘Glide’ typing in addition to the regular typing.
  • Admin Tool - A new Admin Tool on the Jamboard, which lets IT admins and advanced users now troubleshoot basic functionality on the Jamboard.
  • Updated certificate support for WiFi. Learn more about certificate installation.

  • Lasso element selection now allows users to select both the drawing layer as well as objects like post-its, stickers, images, etc.

Jamboard Admin console

What's New

  • Admins can now see a summary of fleet health at the top of the Jamboard Admin console list page (specifically, number of devices healthy and unhealthy).
  • Admins can now add free-text notes to devices in the Jamboard Admin console.
  • Admins can now also see the last time certain health fields were "green" (i.e., if Bluetooth is disabled, shows the last time it was seen enabled).

  • Resolved an issue that occurred sometimes when pairing Chromeboxes for Meetings to Jamboards.
  • Disabled the option to reboot an offline device that could cause an offline device to reboot after powering up.
  • Minor UI Improvements.
