Important: This feature requires Android 6.0 Marshmallow or up.
On your Android device, you can use a stylus or your finger to annotate PDFs in the Google Drive app.
Annotate PDFs on Android
- On your Android Device, open the Google Drive app.
- To enter preview mode, open the PDF you’d like to annotate.
- At the bottom right corner, tap the annotate button .
- A toolbar opens with multiple annotating tools. You can use a stylus or your finger to select an annotating tool.
- Tip: You can tap and hold the toolbar to snap it to any side of the screen.
- You can save the original PDF or make a new copy with a new name. If you save the new copy with a new name, the original copy remains unmarked.
Annotating tools
Marker or pen
- Choose the brush size and colors.
- Use freehand strokes to annotate or mark over the PDF.
Highlighter
- Choose the brush size and colors.
- To highlight, use a wider brush tool with freehand strokes.
Eraser
- To erase any individual line you create, wipe through the line.
Undo or Redo
- Undo or redo any action on the PDF.
Show or hide annotations
- To show or hide all annotations, select Show annotations or Hide annotations .
