Work with links & bookmarks

You can insert, update, or delete links in the Google Docs, Sheets or Slides app.

Add a link

  1. Open a file in the Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides app.
  2. Docs: Tap Edit Edit.
  3. Highlight text, tap the cell, or tap the area in the file where you want the link to appear.
  4. In the top right, tap Insert Insert.
  5. Tap Link.
  6. In the "Text" field, type the text you want to be linked.
  7. In the "Link" field, enter a URL or email address, or search for a website.
  8. To save, tap Done Done

Change or remove a link

  1. Open a file in the Google DocsSheets, or Slides app.
  2. Docs: Tap Edit Edit.
  3. Tap the text, cell, or shape with the link you want to remove.
  4. To remove the link, in portrait view, tap Right arrow right arrow and then Remove link. To change the link, tap Right arrow right arrow and then Edit link.
Note: for Google Sheets, when a cell contains multiple links, only the first link would appear when editing the links in the cell. Editing the link will overwrite the existing links.

Add a bookmark

  1. Open a file in the Google Docs app.
  2. Tap Edit Edit.
  3. Tap where you want the bookmark.
  4. In the top right, tap Insert Insert and then Bookmark.

To copy or remove a bookmark, tap the bookmark, then tap Copy link or Remove.
