Bulk update Meet hardware settings

As an administrator, you can update individually-controlled device settings for any or all of your Meet hardware devices at once by doing a bulk update. To do a bulk update, you update a CSV file listing all the devices and the settings you want to change, and then upload that file to the Admin console.

If you want to update device settings for one or just a few devices, follow the instructions in Manage Google Meet hardware.

Note: Some Meet hardware settings are set by organizational unit, rather than for individual devices. For these settings, you can move devices to another organizational unit.

Change device settings with a bulk update

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. Go to Menu and then Devicesand thenGoogle Meet hardwareand thenDevices.
  3. Click upload  to bulk update devices.
  4. Read the instructions and recommendations carefully and click Continue.
  5. Download the filtered device info and export it to Google Sheets or a CSV file. We recommend that you save a clean copy that you can upload to undo changes if there are problems.
  6. Make your desired changes to fields that are editable.
    1. Remove any rows for devices that you don’t want to modify to avoid accidentally updating them.
    2. Removing devices from this file doesn’t delete devices from your fleet. The only way to delete devices is to deprovision them. For details, go to Decommission Google Meet hardware.
    3. Remove any columns for settings that you don’t change, except for the required deviceId column. Make sure there aren’t any duplicate columns or your update can’t be processed.
    4. For more formatting guidelines, on this page see Formatting a bulk update CSV file.
  7. Save it as a CSV file.
  8. Attach the CSV file and click Upload. Inspect the generated log file for any errors. You can also inspect the audit logs to verify the changes.

Formatting a bulk update CSV file

The deviceId column is required. It identifies which device you want to update.

Changes are not processed if:

  • Your file is missing the deviceId column
  • An unexpected column is detected
  • A column appears twice
  • The column values aren’t modifiable. Changes to these values are skipped. Valid changes are still processed.
  • A value or values for a modifiable column is unrecognized or incorrectly formatted. Valid changes are still processed.
