Mobility

Overview

The IEEE SA Mobility Practice provides a focal point for information and assistance across the wide range of IEEE standards and related initiatives associated with mobility and the digital transformation of transportation. The practice takes into account major trends and facilitates a broad, open, cross-industry dialogue needed to exchange views, to debate, and to agree upon common challenges and collaborative activities needed, including autonomous vehicles, sustainable transportation, and mobility services.

Standards for Trustworthy Autonomous Vehicles—Nurturing the Era of E2e Mobility as a Service (MaaS)

Highly automated cars will be smart due to computerization and software embedded intelligence. They will communicate with each other and the infrastructure, sense the surrounding landscape, and maneuver in an ever changing environment according to their capabilities. Drivers will first be operators, and eventually passengers.

In order to be widely accepted and adopted, autonomous vehicles have to be trustworthy, i.e., they have to be safe, secure, reliable, resilient, and more. Trustworthiness may be subjective and dependent on varying circumstances. A connected vehicle’s ability to sense its surroundings and react safely is critical.  The risk related to AI black box embedded functionality must be limited, and there are more dependencies between properties constituting trustworthiness to be carefully traded off.

This series of webinars/workshops invites regulators, product managers, engineers, and researchers to share their views and make their point on how to ensure trustworthy autonomous vehicles by submitting a proposal for a presentation or talk. The focus should be on industrial challenges, which cannot be solved by a single company, where cooperation is needed.

Cyber-secured Autonomous Vehicles Webinar

Autonomous vehicles are not trustworthy without being secured. They continuously sense the environment, communicate with each other and the infrastructure, and compute massive amounts of data. The Cyber-Secured Autonomous Vehicles Webinar will address many of these challenges. It will highlight different views, initiatives and priorities from Asia, Europe, and America. Presentations and a Q&A panel discussion will identify common approaches and aligned solutions.

These workshops are organized by IEEE Industry Connections groups open for participation to jointly develop agendas for future workshops and webinars. Your contribution is missing! To submit a proposal, send an email to [email protected].
