SMILE is a non-profit organization whose mission is to help single mothers in the greater Spokane/ Coeur d’ Alene area by providing them with emotional and spiritual support, as well as the resources they need to overcome the challenges of single motherhood.

Responsibilities:
* Ensures a safe environment for children by completing background checks and ensuring childcare volunteers follow policies and procedures during events.
* Contact volunteers to fill the need for volunteers at events.
* Work with the volunteer director to make sure volunteers are being appreciated.
* Plan and organize activities for children during childcare at gatherings.
* Attend planning meetings as requested.
* Oversee the childcare team members.
* Recruit volunteers for events.
* Oversee set up of rooms for the children to use during event (must be able to lift at least 25 pounds)
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required
Childcare experience required
Two year college degree preferred
Preference for experience in children's ministry and working with special needs and challenging behavior.
Skills:
- Skill to use spreadsheet software effectively and efficiently, and is capable of managing contacts on the computer
- Ability to manage and redirect challenging behaviors effectively
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children and single moms
