We recognize the challenges of accessing care that respects your culture and identity, makes you feel welcome and understood, and works with you to help you thrive.
What does BIPOC mean?
BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous and People of Color.
This acronym emphasizes the historic oppression and racism of Black and indigenous people within the U.S. context.
It is also used to acknowledge that not all people of color experience the same injustices.
BIPOC is intended as an inclusive, not an exclusive term.
Imposter syndrome, model minority myths, microagressions, and toxic stress related to systemic inequities can have an impact on mental health for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ peoples, veterans, first gen students and other cultural and lived experiences in the student community.
Our professional mental health providers have a range of cultural competencies, expertise, and experiential/cultural backgrounds. We’re here to help.
Appointments for culturally-embedded specialists are available for the SEIP cultural centers (APASS, LGBTQ+ Center, CBCSA, La CASA) as well as through counselors in the academic embedded programs.
