The Renzi Education and Art Center seeks a Program Director who will be responsible for designing and directing its After School and Summer Camp programs in line with the organization's mission and values.
The position requires experience with youth and a passion for the mission.
The Program Director reports directly to the Executive Director.
* Salary is based on qualifications and experience.
* Benefits: 6 weeks paid vacation per year.
* Fulltime position (9-6 Mon.
-Fri, with occasional evening and weekend requirements).
Organization Founded in 1997, the mission of Renzi Education and Art Center is to provide free, high-quality after-school academic and art classes and summer camps to K-12 youth in the Shreveport-Bossier area, so that all children have the opportunity to explore, learn, and create, under the guidance of professional teachers and artists.
Responsibilities Program Development and Management * Develop the structure of the programs to provide innovative and enriching experiences * Recruit, orient and manage contract teachers/artists, academic House Manager, and Academic Coordinator.
Identify and place substitute staff when necessary * Oversee and facilitate scheduling After School Program from 2:00pm.
to 6:00p.
m.
Monday through Thursday, during school year * Oversee and facilitate Summer Camp from 12:00pm.
to 5:00p.
m.
Monday through Friday, during first 3-4 weeks in June * Manage operations in Art House and oversee operations in Academic House * Provide resolutions to staff questions and concerns * Work with the staff to provide an organized, safe and supportive environment * Ensure proper and timely completion of contract staff timesheets and submit to Executive Director for payment.
* Provide assistance with Academic Coordinator's efforts to test and tutor students * Assist contract artists in developing creative and innovative art lessons/experiences * Secure necessary supplies, coordinate donated materials, supplies, and services * Actively inventory necessary supplies for After School Program, including art supplies and academic supplies.
* Recruit, assign, and supervise volunteers * Maintain databases of students * Assist Executive Director with various tasks within and outside of the Center.
Student and Family Relationship Management * Recruit and enroll students into the programs * Schedule youth based on the needs and interests of the students and their parents * Monitor student attendance and behavior concerns, communicating concerns with parents * Act as a mentor for students, including role modeling appropriate behavior Monitoring and Evaluation: * Develop and track program outcomes; complete program statistics and reports in a timely manner * Administer and compile evaluation tools as outlined in grants and as requested by Executive Director * Facilitate ongoing evaluation and implement improvements in programs Marketing and Outreach *Network and partner with like organizations as necessary to program activities* * Work with Executive Director to create and execute marketing strategies with social media and local media to promote the visibility of programs * Assist in fundraising activities as needed Qualifications * Experience teaching/overseeing children * Experience in supervisory or management role * Patience with children, particularly at-risk * High degree of integrity and honesty * Friendly, charismatic, and outgoing personality Skills * Ability to work in fast-paced, community-centered office setting * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Strong organizational skills * Ability to take initiative in completing duties and work collaboratively with other team members * Computer proficiency; experience with MS Word, Excel, and the G-Suite Candidate must be committed to the goals and philosophy of the Renzi Education and Art Center and the Our Lady of Sorrows Congregation and must possess a high degree of motivation.
They are expected to work as part of a team to accomplish common organizational goals and objectives.
Critical to the success of the role will be the ability to communicate and demonstrate, to staff and students alike, the Renzi ethos based on having fun but respecting each other and the facilities.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $29,000.
