We had the good fortune of connecting with Chasity Monique and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chasity, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
As cheesy as this may sound, I didn’t pursue a creative career. It came after me and every time it did, I was reminded that “it” was always there–existing this entire time. When I look back at my childhood days and high school journey, I see the creativity. I’ve always wanted to do this, but loved Education more and so I went with that. I still have a hard time accepting the label as a “Creative” and/or “Creator” it doesn’t feel as secure or safe as my former label did as an “Extraordinary Educator”, but I’m figuring it out and enjoying my process.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am originally from The Bronx in New York City, but I have been living in Atlanta for 4 years now. I’ve always aspired to be a teacher and went ahead to do that- serving all children for 8 years. I am currently a podcast host of I Got the Juice which came to fruition in August of 2018. I will also be releasing my first children’s book this coming spring. Follow my IG page for more details on the release. I Got The Juice started because I like to talk lol. At first I was trying to follow the trend by curating my content around trending topics, but grew out of that quickly. It wasn’t my style. But because that was my foundation, I took breaks and didn’t record much. I got my consistency back once I started looking at me. “What is something Chasity is going through at the moment, struggling with? Any good news?” These were all questions that I asked myself weekly. Doing it this way works for my show. I am very HONEST and don’t mind sharing my personal struggles with my audience. One thing I’d say I am proud of would be my willingness to becoming vulnerable with my audience. My emotional health was in shambles years back– I found it hard to unguard , to release in safe spaces and struggled with it for years. The desire to open up so quickly has become something I look forward to whenever its time to record. Hearing how much my shows inspires my audience rejuvenates me for the next go ’round. I also feel very secure…being vulnerable has brought a level of security for myself and my emotions and translates well on I Got The Juice…. who knew?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is so pretty with sooo much to do. Ok. so boom. We’re def going to Juicy Crab to get some seafood. I love their boil bags, omg mad good! I’m embarrassed to say this, but I haven’t checked out many places but I am changing that this year with COVID restrictions in mind lol. I would def take my bestie to the Aquarium during the day and then we can go out for dinner and drinks- black owned of course, so it’ll be my fav BQE, Roc South or even Toast on Lenox. There’s legit a ton of places we can choose from. I love the Beltline and Ponce City Market, so relaxing and calming. We can walk the Beltline, enjoy a cocktail or two and enjoy the scenery. Atlanta is good and known for their festivals, so if any of those are still happening, I would love to take my her there for the experience, I think she will like it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
That’s easy. God. My faith and my relationship with God has led me to where I am today. The gag is, it is only the beginning. There’s a lot more for me and for y’all and I can’t wait until everyone see’s it. Everything that I have ever been apart of and created is because God trusted me so much and aligned me with his vision for my life. Lastly, my family and close friends. They’ve been an important influence throughout this journey. My biggest supporters- thats my tribe!
