    Disaster and Humanitarian Relief

    Following the genocide that was part of the Rwandan Civil War in the early 1990s, I developed a fundraising project for a relief initiative jointly organized by Medecins Sans Frontieres Hong Kong, Oxfam Hong Kong and Red Cross Hong Kong. The very simple t-shirt design/sales project raised tens of thousands of dollars over a weekend and funds were used for Rwandan refugee relief.

    Following the genocide that was part of the Rwandan Civil War in the early 1990s, I developed a fundraising project for a relief initiative jointly organized by Medecins Sans Frontieres Hong Kong, Oxfam Hong Kong and Red Cross Hong Kong. The very simple t-shirt design/sales project raised tens of thousands of dollars over a weekend and funds were used for Rwandan refugee relief.

    At the same time, I worked with the director of MSF Hong Kong to solicit donations from Hong Kong-based companies and the demobilizing British Army to fill a cargo 747 (the donation of which we also solicited) that flew the relief supplies and materiel to Goma, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where nearly 1 million refugees had taken shelter.

    • As advertising sales director, delivered magazine to profitability by issue three
    • Increased revenue 30% by offering advertorial concepts and production services. Revenue earned came at the expense of the clients’ advertising agencies, and resulted in significantly higher numbers of ad pages for the magazine and a significantly higher share of advertisers’ marketing budgets.
    • Sold ownership stake to co-founder after move to Japan
