VEGOILS-Palm falls on weak soyoil, set to post weekly gain JAKARTA, Aug 23 (Reuters) - Malaysian palm oil futures fell on Friday, snapping two straight session of gains, tracking weak soyoil in Dalian and Chicago markets but were headed for their first weekly gain in five weeks. The benchmark palm oil contract FCPOc3 for November delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange lost 25 ringgit, or 0.65%, to 3,810 ringgit ($869.66)a metric ton by 0231 GMT. For the week the contract has gained 3.26%, its biggest weekly gain since May-end. FUNDAMENTALS Dalian's palm oil contract DCPcv1 gained 0.52%, while the most-active soyoil contract DBYcv1 was down 0.24%. Soyoil prices on the Chicago Board of Trade BOc2 fell 0.4%. Palm oil is affected by price movements in related oils as they compete for a share in the global vegetable oils market. Indonesia plans to implement biodiesel with a mandatory 40% blend of palm oil-based fuel from Jan. 1 next year, a senior energy ministry official said. Exports of Malaysian palm oil products for Aug. 1-20 fell between 16.7% and 18.4% from a month earlier, data from cargo surveyors Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS), Intertek Testing Services and AmSpec Agri Malaysia showed. Palm oil FCPOc3 may retest resistance of 3,833 ringgit per metric ton, a break above which could confirm a target range of 3,862 ringgit to 3,880 ringgit, Reuters technical analyst Wang Tao said. MARKET NEWS U.S. Treasury yields were back near 5% on Thursday, reinforced by above-expectation U.S. GDP data, dragging shares around the world to multi-month lows in the middle of a busy corporate earnings week.

This system assigns grades (A, B, C, or D) based just on two factors- a) sugar content; and b) saturated fat content of the beverages. Excessive consumption of both of these nutrients is interlinked with non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Why Are Some Soft Drinks Graded “A” or “B”? Certain soft drinks can receive higher grades like "A" or "B" because they are formulated with lower sugar levels, and have lower amounts of saturated fats. It’s important to note that many of these beverages often lack essential nutrients, meaning they provide little beyond empty calories. Why Milk Packs are Graded “C” or “D”? Some full-fat milk tetra packs are graded “C” or “D” primarily due to their higher saturated fat content. For Example- Dairy drinks like full-fat milk, which may receive lower grades due to higher saturated fat, are rich in protein, calcium, and other vital nutrients. Vietnamese iced coffee, known as "Cà Phê Sữa Đá," is a popular and refreshing beverage with deep cultural significance. Traditionally, it is brewed using Robusta coffee beans, which are valued in Vietnam for their strong, bold flavor and higher caffeine content. These beans are typically brewed using a Phin filter, a small metal drip apparatus that slowly extracts the coffee, resulting in a concentrated and aromatic brew. Condensed milk is crucial in balancing the strong coffee with its creamy sweetness, creating a perfect blend of bold and smooth flavors. The use of condensed milk instead of fresh milk dates back to Vietnam’s history, where fresh dairy was scarce, making condensed milk a household staple. In the traditional preparation, boiling water is poured over the coffee grounds in the Phin filter, which slowly drips into a glass of condensed milk. Once brewed, the mixture is stirred and poured over ice, resulting in a layered, invigorating, and sweet coffee experience. However, in this video, the Phin filter is not used. Instead, medium-roasted coffee bags are employed, offering a quicker and more convenient brewing process while still delivering a rich flavor. Despite this modern twist, the drink maintains its distinct taste profile, characterized by the full-bodied flavor of Robusta (or other coffee varieties), combined with the sweet, creamy mouthfeel of condensed milk. The Robusta beans lend an earthy bitterness that pairs perfectly with the sweetness, while the ice creates a balanced and refreshing drink. Historically, Vietnamese coffee culture emerged in the 19th century during French colonization when coffee was first introduced to the region. Over time, the Phin filter and condensed milk became integral to the preparation of coffee. Recently, Vietnamese iced coffee has evolved globally, with various adaptations in brewing methods, further popularizing this rich and flavorful drink.

Cat poop coffee is one of the most expensive coffees in the world..!! 🐱 ☕️That is right - I am talking about the famous Kopi Luwak from Indonesia. Before I tell you about my experience of consuming Kopi Luwak on one of my recent trips to Bali, let me tell you a bit more about some facts around coffee in Indonesia. ☕️ Indonesia is the 4th largest coffee producer in the world and Asia's 2nd largest coffee producing nation. ☕️ Indonesia is interesting because, being the world's largest archipelago [nation], they are separated by a lot of seas, so flavors of coffees from one region to another can be very different. ☕️ Indonesia has the largest number of single-origin varieties -- even one island can be home to several different single-origins. For eg.. how coffee in bali is different from its other island from Indonesia A little about Balinese coffee: 🌋Geographically Bali is dominated by a number of volcanic mountains in the center of the island. 🌋The predominant form of agriculture is wet-rice cultivation, but there are also large fruit plantations in the east of Bali, as well as corn fields and coffee plantations. 🌋 Coffees at Bali are washed (wet-processed) like neighboring coffees from Java, East Timor and Papua New Guinea. This got me excited to try coffees while shopping at different coffee shops in Bali. 🐱Coming back to Kopi Luwak and the history behind it - 🌰When Sumatra and Java were part of the Dutch colonial empire in the East Indies, Arabica coffee was introduced as a cash crop, using plants brought in from the Arabian Peninsula. 🌰The Dutch plantation owners forbid the indigenous workers from sampling the fruits of their labor. But the locals noticed that the palm civet (the cat) also ate the coffee cherries that they were harvesting, and that the coffee beans appeared in the animals’ excrement seemingly unchanged. 🌰The locals then cleaned and roasted the beans, and began to brew their own coffee from them. 🌰Eventually, the plantation owners caught wind of the local’s superior brew, tried it, and were swayed that it was indeed the better coffee. 🌰To understand how the coffee is digested by the civets, we need to understand that coffee beans are the seeds found in coffee cherries. 🌰It is said that wild civets pick the plumpest/best cherries when foraging. Once the cherries are eaten, the enzymes in the civets break down the outer layers of the cherry, leaving the beans. 🌰The natural enzymes in the civets’ intestines furthermore strip the coffee of some of its caffeine and acidity.
