Hey Anand . Your words and perspective is "real" and pretty much mirrors my own experience . The HR in HRBP often takes precedence over the Business Partner axis in HR folks . My own transition to being an entrepreneur and closely managing cashflows rather than being a pure play HR professional/consultant not only enhanced my business and financial acumen and strategic agility but also equipped me with far stronger people and change management capability. Of course this cross cross of career neurals keeps the brain super charged and makes life purposeful everyday. All roles regardless of the functional specialisation are non starters without deep business knowhow and accountability . Now is truly the time to rewrite and rewire archaic HR Role Descriptions

Our latest Talent Climate report with The Josh Bersin Company reveals that despite the proven benefits of strategic workforce planning, organizations are failing to fully capitalize on the transformative potential it offers. Excellent article from the eminently readable Josh Bersin - one of those who can do the deep work on analytics and make the info stick in people minds. The section about the critical activities was particularly interesting - with leadership development the clear winner when it came to HR priorities. It stands to reason that many aspects of reactive HR work can be reduced through the actions of capable, confident leaders and managers. Meaning HR can devote more time to the work that builds value and deepens organisational culture and engagement. To get to that point though, you need HR professionals who can work with your managers to coach and enable, navigate risk and maximise opportunity.
