Did you know that not all personal accident plans are equal when it comes to coverage and claims? I had the honour of attending the launch event of a collaboration between Financial Alliance Pte Ltd (Singapore's largest IFA) and Chubb (top GI firm). These two firms came together and came up with a personal accident insurance plan that is exclusively for the clients of Financial Alliance Pte Ltd. There are many personal accident plans in the market, but did you know that not all personal accident plans are equal when it comes to coverage and claims? I used to prefer the cheapest plans in the market, thinking that as long as I have insurance, it doesn't matter anything else. After going through proper education in financial planning and training in the different insurance solutions, I now know the differences and what to take note of when considering a personal accident insurance plan that is seemingly simple but actually not all that simple. That’s poor advice. Interesting stats…. Could be the generation now, who prefer non human contact, like Agents, Financial Advisors or even Relationship Managers….to plan their insurance matters? I came from a generation, who were taught, online sales, you can only buy travel insurance, fire insurance or personal accident insurance….. people will still need a human face to discuss their insurance programs, eg. Income protection, contingency Critical Illness coverage, wealth protection, wealth preservation or wealth transfer etc. Nonetheless, to stay in touch and keep up with the market trends… we must keep on learning…. ⚙️When I join the Insurance industry some 30 over years ago. I learned the importance of Financial Literacy and how insurance is a fundamental part of Financial Planning.  ⚙️And at that time, most of my clients were young Singaporean who just started work.  ⚙️We need to share with them, the topic of L͟o͟v͟e͟ ͟a͟n͟d͟ ͟R͟e͟s͟p͟o͟n͟s͟i͟b͟i͟l͟i͟t͟y͟ as young sons or daughters of parents. The effort that their parents spent in giving them the education(Tertiary), the hard work and sacrifices they have made, should not be taken for granted. ⚙️Even if their parents are well to do or don’t their money, it is the thought that counts. 𝙄͟𝙣͟𝙨͟𝙪͟𝙧͟𝙖͟𝙣͟𝙘͟𝙚͟ ͟𝙞͟𝙨͟ ͟𝙣͟𝙚͟𝙫͟𝙚͟𝙧͟ ͟𝙖͟𝙣͟ ͟𝙪͟𝙣͟𝙣͟𝙚͟𝙘͟𝙚͟𝙨͟𝙨͟𝙖͟𝙧͟𝙮͟ ͟𝙚͟𝙭͟𝙥͟𝙚͟𝙣͟𝙙͟𝙞͟𝙩͟𝙪͟𝙧͟𝙚͟, in my opinion. No wonder everyone’s feeling the pressure to sell. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂… One of my clients, who I met years ago in the logistics industry, was working as a foreigner in Singapore before she became a PR. Before we ever sat down, she’d already met 5 or 6 financial advisors. Tied agents, independents, you name it. So why did she choose me? Simple. She said: “𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘱 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘺 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘮𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘰 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘩. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥.” That’s it. No fancy pitch, no "𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴." Just real, honest answers. Fast forward to today…she’s recommended me to her entire circle: friends, colleagues, and even her husband. And when she introduced me to him, she said: “𝘚𝘩𝘦’𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘳. 𝘚𝘩𝘦’𝘭𝘭 𝘥𝘪𝘨 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥.” We even worked through how insurance works in his home country since his family is in the same industry. After answering all their questions, he was confident. Covered. And here’s the key: 𝗜 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁. 𝗜 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺. So, next time you get that “coffee” invite, ask yourself… are they really listening to you? Or just trying to sell you the latest promo?

Relax, take it eaasyy (with MIKA’s song in my head) As the song still lingers in my head, I was asked about this topic during a discussion. How can we improve the result of our works the fastest? For the outcome to be perfect? Some people might have high expectation that, after they have completed their tasks, assignments as well as projects, the outcome will be as perfect as they imagine it would be in just a short period of time. Sometimes that is not the case, and left them feeling demotivated afterwards. It is totally normal. We are humans after all. We all make a lot of progress along the way, be it small, big or significant progress, but the total time taken for our work result to be perfect should not be the bench mark of our capabilities. Success does not come all at once, most of the times success comes in stages by stages in a matter of years of hardwork and progress. Every Master was once a beginner, every Pro was once an Amateur. So take your time and believe the process!
