To what extent should data saturation be used as a quality criterion in qualitative research?
Data saturation is often used as a criterion to evidence the quality of qualitative research. Researchers, in order to ‘meet research criteria’ may simply declare that they have achieved data saturation without justifying what it means in the context of the research and how such a conclusion was reached. This affects the transparency and credibility of qualitative research. The concept of data saturation is under-explored, problematic and paradoxical when applied to qualitative research in…

Researchers, in order to ‘meet research criteria’ may simply declare that they have achieved data saturation without justifying what it means in the context of the research and how such a conclusion was reached. This affects the transparency and credibility of qualitative research. The concept of data saturation is under-explored, problematic and paradoxical when applied to qualitative research in general. The concept and requirement for data to be saturated should perhaps only be applied within the confines of grounded theory of which there is an established framework for its use.

The Trainer Empowerment & Enabling Project (TEEP)
TEEP is a visionary initiative addressing the challenges faced by aspiring trainers. Operating as a not-for-profit, community-driven endeavor, TEEP seeks to provide structured and sustainable support for individuals pursuing a career in training. The project's name, inspired by the Thai Kickboxing term "teep" (meaning a "push kick"), reflects its mission to give budding trainers the push they need to kickstart their aspirations.

TEEP unites Partners (i.e. aspiring trainers) and Patrons (i.e. course participants) seeking diverse learning experiences. Training Providers scouting for promising trainers are also welcome as Patrons. The project's in-person Programs cover Leisure, Lifestyle, and Work-related courses, with a nominal gift of $50 per Patron for a half-day session or $100 for a full-day one. These contributions directly support TEEP's mission.
Support for TEEP can take various forms, including becoming a Patron, sponsoring venues, refreshments, stationery or equipment for training. The resources gathered are utilized to provide emerging trainers with the opportunity to conduct their first real (paid) class, along with free coaching-mentoring sessions to enhance their skills and kickstart their careers.
TEEP operates on a private funding model, devoid of government subsidies or grants, relying on the faith, generosity, and kindness of its Patrons and Sponsors to sustain its operations and support aspiring trainers.
Established in 2024, TEEP's unique purpose and operating model distinguish it as an experimental and innovative initiative. The project aims for a Win-Win-Win scenario, where Partners receive compensation and mentorship, Patrons gain new knowledge, and Sponsors achieve marketing or altruistic goals.
Despite nominal contributions from Patrons, TEEP promises an exceptional level of service quality comparable to commercial training providers.
