Do you want to know about how to better manage transactions in microservices? If you do, please check our presentation at KubeDay! https://lnkd.in/gCYznq7p Title: Towards Effortless Transaction Management in Microservices Abstract: Developing microservice applications based on the database-per-service pattern is challenging because you need to ensure the transactional consistency of multiple, possibly diverse, databases of microservices. Saga and TCC are widely used to address the challenge, but these approaches require the applications to ensure isolation, forcing the application developers to implement complex recovery mechanisms. Another way is using a two-phase commit (2PC). However, 2PC is often discussed as an anti-pattern in microservice architecture since it is considered limited in scalability and availability. In this session, we revisit the benefits of microservice architecture and rethink the advantages and disadvantages of the existing approaches for transaction management. We also introduce a solution that achieves effortless transaction management in microservices without losing the most benefits.

GO COMMENTARY WEEKLY: CLI TOOLS & THE PENDULUM SWINGING BACK TO TERMINALS Welcome to this week's Go Commentary by Phat Nguyen (backend engineer), where we explore how the Go ecosystem is embracing a CLI renaissance with tools for Kubernetes, REST APIs, and full-text terminal readers. 1/ `kl`: Interactive Kubernetes Log Viewer - This interactive log viewer for Kubernetes lets you monitor multiple containers, pods, and clusters from your terminal. It’s efficient, but it does make you wonder: Why isn't this built into `kubectl` itself? 2/ Restish: A CLI for RESTful APIs - Restish aims to be a streamlined way to interact with REST APIs, even if `curl` and `HTTPie` already do the job. It's a slick tool, but maybe we need to question if we’re over-complicating things just to add another shiny tool to our stack. 3/ `cast-text`: A Terminal-Based Full-Text News Reader - Brings back RSS feed reading to your terminal, making you feel like it's 1999 again but in a good way. It’s the kind of back-to-basics experience that reminds you why the terminal is still a developer's best friend. Reflection: Moving Forward by Looking Back - There’s comfort in these CLI tools, and they are a reminder of a simpler time. Yet, we can't ignore that these new text-based tools come with their complexities, hiding layers beneath their minimalist surface. Hugh Everett III first shared his thoughts on the concept of parallel worlds in 1957. We have been creating a parallel #digitalworld in bits and pieces for many decades while struggling to accumulate all the #value emerging from it. The #complexity increases when we start leveraging #emerging #technologies. However, technology #disruption is bringing more value by becoming mainstream and improving business models. #Industry 4.0 breaks through all previous limitations by incorporating multiple technology components, including #IoT, #CPS, Big Data and #Analytics, AI & ML, #Robotics and #Automation, 3D Printing, AR-VR, #Cloud, Blockchain, and #Digital #Twin. Complexity arises when we #architect #integration within the whole #ecosystem. Integration and #data #communication are not as generic as they were for traditional #service-to-service communication. The scope of considerations has extended to #streaming and, at the same time, #lightweight, #ultra-fast communication for IoT, capturing all data points to create an impression of your digital twin, creating pipelines to feed data for your analytics platform and AI model to enable continuous training. Hence, a flexible, adaptable, fast, scalable, and #resilient data/message communication platform becomes critical for the entire ecosystem's success in achieving its intended business goals. What are the available products now, and what are the long-term #considerations for designing your #sustainable communication platform? To get a deep dive into this topic, please join me in my session on "Kafka: The #Next #Generation Communication for Everything." Below is the meetup link: https://lnkd.in/dD3gRESr Thanks, Ena Koide for planning this event. #singapore #enterprise #industry4 #malaysia #integration #kafka #uae #integration #emerging

#Enterprise #integration is not just about #Sync and #Async transactions. An #Architect needs to consider multiple aspects while analyzing and architecting middleware with the fundamental principle of "Keeping Middleware Pipeline Dumb." Whether peer-to-peer or pub-sub; Sync or Async; predefined #consumers or uncertain consumers; #contract certainty of #providers; data #compliance applicability on providers and consumers; #lightweight or #heavyweight; sharing all data to accommodate multiple consumers or strictly #encapsulated; pre/post #serialization and transport compatibility; exactly one delivery or at least one delivery; #replay capability for new joiners; #lifetime of #messages; #unification and #adaptation of backward-compatible new changes. There are additional considerations depending on the #domain and #usecases. I remember the last time Sachin Choube and I took a deep dive into this for around an hour just to discuss this. Using #emerging #technologies when we bring AI/ML,IoT, RPA, CPS, and #DigitalTwin use cases onboard, the horizon expands largely. I am curious to discuss this during the upcoming meetup on the topic "Kafka: The Next Generation Communication for Everything." Do enroll for the meetup: https://lnkd.in/dD3gRESr #singapore #enterprise #industry4 #malaysia #integration #kafka #uae #integration #emerging

🔍 Want to run a real-time search query on a massive amount of data in Elastic and join it with product data in Postgres to support a cool new experience for your users? For innovation to truly come to life, your team(s) need the right ingredients (data, tools, etc.) and a lack of friction (access to those ingredients, the ability to mix and match them, etc.). With metadata-driven systems like Hasura, gaining access to high-quality data from any source, including Elasticsearch, and shaping it to fit your needs is now a breeze 🧘! If you or your team uses Elasticsearch (or something similar!) and you're in the Bay Area, come check out this talk by Praveen Durairaju: 🔗 Register now: https://lnkd.in/et3tmhFT 📅 October 10th, 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM PST 📍 Plug and Play Tech Center, Sunnyvale

[CVE-2024-49368: HIGH] Nginx UI is a web user interface for the Nginx web server. Prior to version 2.0.0-beta.36, when Nginx UI configures logrotate, it does not verify the input and directly passes it to exec.Command, causing arbitrary command execution. Version 2.0.0-beta.36 fixes this issue. https://lnkd.in/ewa7iDQQ

The Secret Diary of an Atlassian Data Center Admin
<System Engineer>: Do you know Confluence's disk usage has grew from 2TB to 3TB this year. At this rate, we will run out of disk space soon. <System Engineer 2>: With more attachments to process, the backups and Confluence upgrades are taking much longer. <IT Manager>: How about we migrate to Confluence Cloud? The disk storage for Confluence Cloud Premium is unlimited. <Confluence Admin>: I did some analysis. There are some users uploading very large videos and personal backup files in Confluence. How about using Attachment Checker to enforce usage quota? That could free up unnecessary files from Confluence.
