My 3 key takeaways on AI from SWITCH2024 - Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology (SWITCH): 1. Customized AI models are becoming the new currency. More than 60% of companies plan to fine-tune the models or train from scratch. Important note: you can do it only by having unique, high-quality data. 2. 74% of organizations are currently seeing ROI from their gen AI investments. (See the picture to understand the most impactful areas) 3. AI's evolution is moving towards multi-agent workflows, where a chain of AI models will automate business operations. On 21 May, Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with AI Singapore for SMEs to enjoy subsidised rates for Microsoft Copilot, an #artificialintelligence (#AI) tool embedded in Microsoft 365 applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.   The tool can answer queries, summarise data and create content for its user.   💰 EnterpriseSG will defray 50% of Copilot’s licensing costs for a 12-month period. Another huge announcement from Microsoft this week on cloud and AI investment in Asia, specifically Malaysia. Microsoft will invest US$2.2 billion over the next four years to support Malaysia’s digital transformation – the single largest investment in its 32-year history in the country. Microsoft’s investment includes: - building cloud and AI infrastructure in Malaysia - creating AI skilling opportunities for an additional 200,000 people in Malaysia - strengthening its partnership with the Government of Malaysia to establish a national AI Centre of Excellence and enhance the nation’s cybersecurity capabilities - supporting the growth of Malaysia’s developer community. The investment demonstrates Microsoft’s commitment to developing Malaysia as a hub for cloud computing and related advanced technologies, including generative AI.
